Thanks to the current regulations Obamacare has forced upon insurance companies, my employer is paying $5,000.00 a Month for my healthcare today. I was informed that as of January 1, 2014 they will be forced to drop my coverage. I work for a small family business that has paid for my health insurance for the past 25 years, but next year they will not be able to afford it any longer.
So, come next year I will be forced to buy into one of the plans offered by Obamacare. I have told my wife I am not going to buy it. I will go without insurance and take my chance with God, whom I have unlimited faith in.
As many of you know, my wife is a paraplegic who has been on medicare, and even her insurance will change. However we will keep hers, because her healthcare is my number one priority.
I am wanting to know how many other Freepers will forgo insurance as I will. How many like me will tell the government to kiss my #^*@.
I am of the belief that there are enough Americans like me who, if we refuse to play their unconstitutional game, can cause the whole system to collapse upon itself. That is if we do not cave in to the pressure to go long.
I am currently weening myself off any and all drugs I am being prescribed by my Dr, and making up the difference by changing my diet and or habits that led me to need the prescriptions. If there is a drug my DR. swears I need to have to live a good life, I will then put my faith in God. Come what may.
Veteran friends from both Los Angeles and Greenville SC tell me the VA facilities in their cities are fine with them.
The IRS will not have the authority to “fine” you. All they can do is keep your refund. So, claim how ever many dependents it takes so that you always owe the IRS a little each year. Don’t give them a refund to keep.
Exactly. For the last 15 years I have made sure I always have to cut a check to the IRS.
That’s when I decided I would stop allowing the government to collect interest on money that was mine.
My ex moved out of state and reported to the local child support that I owed money. Since they had no records of any payment they reported to the credit bureau that I was behind over $20,000. Plus, they reported to the IRS so the next refund I expected didn’t come. Starting the next year I planned to always owe taxes come April 15th. After two years the state where I live notified the IRS and credit bureau and got it all fixed.
I’m with you!
What can we the people do to combat Obamacare? Is there a way we can gather together and form a force against Obamacare?
Looking at the meager amount of comments to this thread, I am not all that impressed with us conservatives doing anything coordinated to stop him.
I would think that this thread would have generated hundreds of responses as to what we as a group could do, but alas too many just don’t care as much about stopping Obama or his nightmare of government control over their health as they claim to care.
Obama can take his care and â Stick Itâ I have great care I took with me when I retired/ I don’t want anything to do with anything Obama has to do with...
I’m 75 and on Medicare, I have 2 children under 26 and according to obama, my kids can stay on my insurance plan until they are 26. So my kids will be covered under medicare, isn’t that great.
‘_________alternative cures from natural products.’
Agree. It takes much research, first finding reliable sources to read and agree with.
I can offer some name of docs with alternative newsletters we’ve gotten for years.
Same for supplement brands - can name some we rely on, if anyone wishes.
Going to tell you right now ‘Standard Process’ is excellent and can be obtained at health care providers’ offices. Our chiro carries it.
Spouse should be on coumadin - since 1996; took it while researching supplements which do a similar job for the ‘ailment,’ found those supplements, and is doing just fine, thank you. Even tho a friend said “no o oh - - going off coumadin? you’ll die!”
Meanwhile, a few years ago her husband, taking coumedin, dies.
NOT AT ALL SAYING this med killed him, but he was on it. . . and other meds
Now, you have to be committed to this change and lifestyle, because it takes more energy and willingness to take multiple capsules or tablets daily than it is to take one prescription capsule - - -
And supplement are not cheap - exCEPT for the ‘cheap
ones. . . ‘
That’s just one example of our ‘alternatives.’
PS Want to mention the ‘go to’ guy for information on current, traditional old and new cancer meds and therapies, and alternative modalities.
That is Dr. Ralph Moss.
Many of these docs with newsletters also send daily e-mail information - - -
Definitely with you.

I’m covered!
I was in the military, therefore I have VA benefits, such as they are. Take a hike, you have my DD214 on file putzocrats!
I’ll answer no further questions or complete any further paperwork on the matter.
Done!
I was pretty much over the SS earning limit every year for 40 yrs and put in about $250k (employer contrib included).
Based on my monthly check, I’ll be “even” in 8.7 years (interest not included LOL)
I wasn’t even counting the employer contribution. Just what I paid in.
My hubby was considering retiring early. I got the SS calculations, did a spreadsheet, and figured if he works for 15 years longer, paying in at the SS maximum, he’ll pay in over $100,000 in today’s dollars for that 15 years. And will net only $40,000 more if he lives until the average life span for a male.
Counting the empployer’s matching - he would pay in $200,000 for the next 15 years and get only $40,000 back if he lives until 82.
Unless you are over 100 and really did pay in the maximum every year (only 35 years of earnings count, BTW, and someone working early in their career rarely makes the maximum), you may want to re-do your calculations. Remember to account for inflation as well - the SS website has an inflation index they use for each year.
True, but realize you won't be covered until the first of the next month, at the earliest. Or the first of the second month if you apply after the 24th.
That is contrary to everything else I have read about IRS collection of Obamacare penalties. I don't believe what you are saying has any basis in fact, at least in how the laws are written at this time.
Yorkie, they have tried for years to get medicaid. No deal. they were able to get the state subsidy for the kids, but they have had to pay out of pocket for medical care all their married life. They always tell her that if he is working they can’t get welfare of any kind, but if they divorce, she can get it. she tells me that they will have to pay for insurance and it will be more than they can afford. She’s pretty up on things and smart girl. I think the problem is they are white.
There are plenty of articles online urging conservatives to reject Obamacare and not buy health insurance. How much do you want to bet that most of the authors of those articles are working for large corporations and get health insurance through their employer? They have no skin in the game.
That’s why I get so upset when I see people here also urging others to skip buying health insurance. You are risking your health. You are risking financial ruin for your family. It’s a fine principle you’re fighting for, but is this the best way to achieve results?
OneVike, you state that your wife’s healthcare is your number one priority. In order to take care of her, you have to first take care of yourself! That means making your own health a top priority. If there are no acceptable substitutes for the medications you require, then you do whatever is necessary to take the medications necessary for your own health. And you don’t cross your fingers and pray to God that you won’t need insurance!
My sister and brother-in-law retired a couple of years, both in seemingly good health. They continued my sister’s health insurance through COBRA. Since then, it became necessary for my sister to have two hip replacements (at age 62!) and my brother-in-law was diagnosed with testicular cancer. Fortunately health insurance kept them from using up their retirement nest egg. Now COBRA has expired and they can only buy health insurance through a special insurance pool their state offers. I can’t imagine how their lives would have been impacted without health insurance!
And, if you’re young and healthy, you won’t need it? Tell that to my youngest sister who, in her 30s, developed Lupus.
Buying health insurance is the responsible thing to do. My very conservative parents brought me up to be responsible. I’m not going to get sick and be a burden on others! I’m going to take care of my health so that I’m there for my husband.
By the way, some of the articles suggest that you wait until you’re sick to buy insurance. They conveniently omit the fact that you’ll have to wait until the open enrollment period. Great. Let’s just ignore that growing lump until you can buy insurance. Maybe it won’t be cancerous.
And for praying to God for your health? I’m a firm believer in prayer. It’s through God’s blessings that so many medical discoveries have been made. It just reminds me of the story of the man and the flood. The water is rising around his house and a boat comes by. The man in the boat urges the Christian to hop in. No, the Christian says. God will save me. Later a police boat approaches. Hop in, they say. No, he says. God will save me. The Christian ends up on his roof with the flood waters swirling around. A helicopter approaches. Grab the lifeline! No, he says. God will save me. Well, the Christian drowns and goes to heaven where he asks God Why didn’t you save me? And God replied, I sent two boats and a helicopter! So yes, pray to God, but use the good sense he gave you and be responsible!
So yes, buy health insurance. If Obama wasn’t dictating that you do it, you would probably be doing it on your own since conservatives are raised to be responsible adults and not a drain to themselves or others. Find another way to fight Obamacare. Write your congressman. Organize protests. Whatever. And if you keep yourself healthy, you’ll be doing your family a huge favor and you’ll be here to vote for good conservative representatives.
By the way, be informed. The health care exchanges come online in October. Do yourself a favor and check out what is available. It isn’t going to cost you anything to just get educated. Maybe the insurance will be too expensive. I don’t know. But I do know that there are subsidies available. Make a decision base on knowledge and what is best for your family.
