Looking for a good well balanced documentary on Terrorism

Posted on 08/09/2013 10:58:16 AM PDT by Sokol

I teach at a small Christian college. One of my classes is Terrorism. I am looking for a good, well balanced documentary on Terrorism to show my students. I already have One Day in September and Waco: Rules of Engagement. Can you recommend any conservative documentaries? Thanks for any help.

One that comes right to mind is Obsession - Radical Islam's War Against the West. Very well done in my view - delves into the past and present, and the psychologies behind terror.

You might also consider Iranium and Fitna. They’re not “balanced” in the sense that they say “on the one hand, Islamism might be considered a threat to the civilized world, but on the other hand, here are arguments or evidence about why it’s not.” They actually tell the truth. If you teach at a small Christian college it may be that you’re still allowed to do that.

I hope so.

Good luck.

In terms of intentions one prevalent source for terrorist recruitment arises from Wahhabi/Salafi madrassas. McCain in his campaign touted the idea of “getting bin Laden” as if that was going to solve the problem. Obama got bin Laden and now touts that Al Qaeda is on “a path to defeat”. Both assertions provide political slogans for avoiding serious prosecution of terror as a system of government. The real enemy is Wahhabi Jihadism and not the latest mercurial, sociopathic prophet or organization emerging from that and like heresies. The below link provides the best description I have found for this source of terrorism.

They and like manifestations provide the fertile ideological ground coverts can embrace to justify not only totalitarianism, but also to empower stateless terrorism. Saudi Arabia that funds these madrassas directly or through charities is not only reluctant to cooperate in the GWOT, but also is sufficiently cowed to realize stability of its own princely authority is now endangered.

This heresy considers Jews, Christians, Sunnis, Shi’as and secularists as sub-human, pagan, legitimate objects for slaughter. Wahhabism rejects traditional Muslim allegiances to family, tribe, ethnicity, and country, and incorporates murder and desolation as both means and ends. The Caliphate sought presupposes no particular human or physical remnant, leaving terrorists immune from diplomacy, containment, or retaliation. This adversary fits Webster’s definition of a virus better than its definitions for a foreign power or authority.

Check with Prof. Jeffrey Addicott at St Mary’s University Law School’s Center For Terrorism Law. He’s a wealth of info and has great resources.
