My back yard is just as good so why would I want to go anywhere?

What car do you take, though?

The Family Truckster, of course.

Best cross country vehicle = S-3B

Reasonably fast, plenty of cargo space, and fun low level at destination.

I'll start. Meet the *Ronnie Raygun* [yes, we name our cars].

It's a 1988 Chrysler Town & Country woodie. Completely original; 90K miles.

It's the quintessential Ugly Duckling....it's so funky...it's cool again. We've enjoyed daily road trips; it's very comfortable, has A/C, seat belts, fair mileage [26mpg]...and a cassette player!

I had a 65 Olds 425 Rocket V8, 370hp Delta 88. It was powerful and got surprisingly good gas mileage. Many happy memories go along with it.

First my Father owned it then my older brother then it was mine. It had positraction which helped when taking my date on one of those rough country roads.

Comfortable, fast, even nimble handling. Cruise the interstate doing 80 all day. It was just loafing along.

We had a Honda S2000 that was a blast to drive. Unfortunately Obama’s economy forced us to sell it last year.

The sun is out! The birds are singing! The open road calls!

Has to be a convertible:

And a way to keep cool:

My '03 Toyota Highlander. It seats myself and my three friends comfortably, has plenty of cargo space for our luggage, has 4-wheel drive if we want to head cross-country, and gets 23.7 miles per gallon on the highway.

We just did a road trip down to Georgia (Chickamauga National Military Park) earlier this week and are planning a huge trip out West (Colorado, Wyoming, etc...) next Spring.

When I was 9yo, my parents took me on a trip from Oklahoma City to Brunswick, GA and back via New Orleans. I rode laying down in the back of a VW Bug with the seats folded down. That’s not a good way to take a road trip.

A good old full sized American station wagon, what else? That’s what they were made to do.
