That is the Radio Flyer SUV version. It’s cool but the Woody version is cooler.
Here’s one, love those crazy things. Club chairs for seats, rides like floating on a cloud. One of the most advanced cars ever built, especially considering it was first introduced in 1955.
I’ve ridden in one similar to this but no chance to drive it, sadly. They’re a little ... different, in the area of driver controls as well as everything else. I’ve rented newer ones overseas before, which was still an experience, but this one is the real deal.
Talk about a road trip car. You’d have to plot the trip around a map of qualified mechanics, though.

That’s the prettiest color combo, imho, black with brushed aluminum exterior, tobacco leather interior. Too bad Americans thought they were too weird. Weird they are, but it’s a wonderful weird, lol.

Those things were so far ahead of their time. A friend of mine’s dad had a couple of them. I’ve always liked Citroens for some reason, but they’re a bear to keep on the road because they require the rare mechanic who knows about them.
I see a few well-kept ones around here, so somebody still knows how to maintain and repair them. The hydraulics appear to be the primary thing as far as upkeep, that wild suspension that can lift a tire off the road to replace a flat with no jack, the power steering, the brakes. Hydraulic system goes down, the car goes down, literally.
Needed to be bigger.
Couple of cool Rambler wagons in this vid, a lot of cool wagons actually. But the star, imho, is the ‘57 Mercury Turnpike Cruiser Hardtop wagon, black with restored “woody” panels, red interior. Don’t know about those baby moons, factory would look better. Trying to get a little retro rod look I guess.

Just don’t take it in a GM car. My Chevy Tahoe 2007 with 75,000 granny miles on it, just blew a lifter, 5 months after manf. warranty expired. Will have to replace all 16 lifters while they have the engine torn apart, mechanic says they are defective and GM won’t put out a recall. $2500 in repairs, no more American, or should I say American union, made cars ever again for me.
I can believe it — I remember when those K cars were all over the place.

At least it’s made in the USA. Only four of its parts are *not* made in the US, and none in China.
I'm driving a '97 Crown Vic P71 with 200K on the clock. Insurance is cheap. Property taxes are cheap. And I only paid 1100 bucks for it five years ago. I do a lot of my own maintenance on it, so that's reasonable. It uses 87 octane regular.
True, it only gets bout 18 mpg around town, a little better on the highway, but I probably drive less than 6000 miles a year, so the out of pocket cost for gas is quite reasonable (I'm retired).
In the meantime, I have no problem merging onto the freeway, and I've got plenty of room to park my fat butt in comfort. Hey, to each his own!
Full disclosure: I've got a '91 Festiva as a backup.

That’s quite a road trip from one edge to another!
That poor Groton base is constantly under fire to being closed. Our economy ion CT is so bad...it would devastate the New London area if it shut down.
