Because of liberal policies Detroit, an American city that once was the very epitome of the benefits of capitalism, was once able to boast of the highest standard of living of any city in the world is now little more than a garbage heap people want to run from.
Today Detroit has roughly 700,000 people. In 1960 Detroit had 1.6 million people. They were auto workers and auto manufacturing executives. They manufactured things and traded an honest day’s work for a decent middle class salary. Then you took over, liberals. In 1962 the last Republican mayor left office. Your greedy unions swamped Detroit and all of a sudden every demand from every group was met. The debt you caused and the criminals you elected to run Detroit...

It’s the fault of the “White Flight” - all the ‘rich’ white people who trashed the city on their way out - to go live, high on the hog, in the suburbs with all their wealth that they ‘stole’ from the po folks in Deetroit.
They will NEVER acknowledge that it was corrupt, liberal polititians and a citizenry who just didn’t care to keep up a great city.
To be fair, there are many reasons why Detroit failed. Don’t forget NAFTA’s impact on our industry.
I do offer my apologies to Dr. Ben, Col.West, Alan Keyes and many more honorable Black men who escaped the Plantation mentality. I wish they would turn all their effort back to the Plantation and help straighten out this enormous problem. I think all of these men would be excellent Presidential candidates and hopefully one of them will consider 2016? Now you may call me on my statement that Blacks have notoriously destroyed city governments so how could I endorse these black men for President? It’s integrity and character not skin color that qualifies a man for public office and so far most of the black public officials are still living on the Plantation.

Very good point. The producers left because they had the means to do so and the takers stayed. When the majority of a population are takers, this result is inevitable.
The governor is a Republican. Does anyone know if he sounded any alarms, took any steps to correct the problem? Or did he just go along happy to be in office? For discussion...

There can be NO middle class or privately owned manufacturing sector in a communist society. Even Joe Stalin would be impressed if he were still alive.

Used to work with a Canadian for a Detroit based corporation. He would commute from Windsor every day. When he first got the job, he had bought a home and moved into Detroit. They lasted about 1 month and got the heck out. Moved back to Windsor. It was just too dangerous. They thought it would be similar to Windsor.
