I believe that was explained more than once up above.

The form would have been filled out using whatever term the child’s father used to describe his own race, and it would have been natural in 1961 for a Kenyan to denote his race as “African.”

I can understand this part of it, but I don’t see why an American Nurse/Doctor would fill out the cert with a term not used on US certs. The form says “race”not “Nationality.” He was obviously a Negro, and that’s the standard term that we used back then. Why would they break from the US standard? Oh well,,,,,
