The reasons that pets are surrendered to animal control facilities are many...moving, baby on the way, dog is too big, no time, digs, barks, or perhaps this...going on vacation.
On Monday, a shelter volunteer captured a heartbreaking video of a dog who was surrendered to the San Bernardino, Calif., city facility because his owners were going on vacation.

I am a volunteer with the German Shepherd Rescue of Orange County (CA). Try these excuses:
We are having a baby and don’t want our 10 year old German shepherd anymore... but do you have a puppy available?
I just bought new furniture... the dogs do not match the colors.
The dog does not know his name so we are returning him... after 24 hours.
Dog is playing with the patio cushions. Is he tearing them up? No, just tossing them in the air.
Poor dog Oso has 4 days to be adopted. This shelter kills 87% of the pets who find their way into there. That is a pathetic number of adoptions. They sound like they’re just a pet slaughterhouse. May his former owners rot in hell. The fact that he was classified “Rescue Only” means only a rescue agency can come and rescue him. He will not be put onto the adoption floor, further diminishing his chances to live. Poor thing!
I pray someone goes to adopt him.
Shameful people who did this. This breaks your heart.
Couldn’t watch the video — too angry and upset.
Will give both of my rescue dogs extra hugs tonight...
I hate these people. Not only are they cruel; they are stupid beyond words.
Send the dog on a vacation, and put these degenerates in a cage at the sheliter
Wow almost sounded like a planned parenthood clinic. democrats shouldn’t be allowed to mate or own dogs.
Especially to the least. Our own worth is measured by how we treat those that cannot defend or speak for themselves.
Agreed, and understood FRiend. Just tweeted it out again. Sure hope it helps Oso, and animals in general.
The more critters I have the chance to watch, or interact with, even on the most superficial level, convinces me that God set things up this way, for US to learn from them...
May God bless and keep you.

I have 3 rescue cats myself.
I wish I was half the man my dogs think I am. No matter how bad a day I am having, or how rotten work was they are always happy to see me.
They never gossip about the neighbors or do mean things to them.
I lived in Chile for 5-years and have worked in South America for almost 10...if you are a dog lover, you have to be pretty tough. In Chile, even in the most upscale neighborhoods in Santiago, when families go on holiday, they typically turn the dogs loose to run the streets.
I used to live in a very upscale neighborhood, and the wife and I used to sleep with earplugs because of the noise from roaming packs of dogs. There wasn’t a boarding kennel in the whole country that I would put Obama in...well, I’ll have to think about that one.
Dogs that are held for the required waiting period are usually strays that have been picked up and presumed to be lost. The waiting period allows the owner time to find and reclaim his dog. Dogs that are surrendered by their owner can be disposed of immediately because it has been established that no one is coming to reclaim that dog. Depending on the existing crowding conditions at the shelter they can legally take that dog from the admitting desk directly to the euthanasia room if they need to.
“He can smell the death because that’s where they keep all the dead dogs.”
The only nice thing I can say here is these insensitive jacklegs didn’t leave the poor animal chained somewhere or locked in a building.
Have fun on your vacation < /S>.
They are sweeties. I’m allergic to them though (the second group of two, not the other four). Wal-dryl every day for me now.
According to the facebook page for rescuing urgent pets, Oso was picked up a little while ago by their owner. There were several rescue groups willing to come and get him, but the idiot Animal Control center gave him back to his original “we don’t care if our dog is killed” owners. How stupid can you get?
Send them to work in your place and see how "happy" they are when they get home to YOU..........LOL!
Then what happened? Or are you just trying to be cute?
I've had mine for about 8 years now and haven't taken a vacation since I've had her. I remember how she was cowering in the cage when I first saw her and I vowed I'd never put her thru that again by boarding her for any length of time.
This weekend I'm going away for the first time and I've called up several friends with cats to be reassured that mine will be ok on her own for the time I'm away.........
I'll leave a light on in the kitchen and talk radio on in the background to keep her company.....
SAN BERNADINO-—CALIFORNIA??
Ah, the home of the oh-s0000 -sensitive LIBS..Screw them.
Kill dogs. Kill babies. Yeah, soooooo compassionate. Yeesh, I hate them Libs..just a lot of talk.
