Dog Surrendered to Animal Control...Because Owners Going on Vacation

The reasons that pets are surrendered to animal control facilities are many...moving, baby on the way, dog is too big, no time, digs, barks, or perhaps this...going on vacation.

On Monday, a shelter volunteer captured a heartbreaking video of a dog who was surrendered to the San Bernardino, Calif., city facility because his owners were going on vacation.

It's gone viral on Facebook. There are pledges for over $500 for whoever adopts the dog.

You are right. German Shepherd Rescue of Orange County save a lot of dogs from shelters that service the Latino areas. Some suffer from conditions where over the counter supplements and decent dog food could have kept them healthy.

This kind of thing is not uncommon. I was raised to be kind and caring to animals, especially for domesticated pets (cats and dogs.)

Just in the past 5 or 6 years did I slowly realize that my attitude toward pets is fairly rare.

There are a LOT of people out there, even on this forum, that has little to no regard for dogs and cats.

You are right, and towards animals in general. There is a clique of vicious people here who post about killing animals and reveling in it.

I volunteer at an animal shelter and this is all too common! Right now we are at full capacity and lost 23 dogs today for space!

Yeah, I don't get it. Are they too cheap to board? I don't like to board my own but I would sure as hell do that before taking them to a shelter.

Yes, as another poster mentioned, they are hispanics. They do not as a general rule put any money into their pets at all save for some food.
