You won't believe how much has changed since then. Notice anything peculiar (other than the fashions) in some of these photos? (Many photos at link)

Where are the millions of Muslims, foreigners and illegals?
Oh...This was before government divided the once united...My mistake
You may be right, those do not look like Calif. girls at all. I was ~40 at the time, so I did look carefully at them.
I really miss when life was fun...
out of 60 pictures, with hundreds of people at all different times and days, only three pics have black people in them, and only one had three, the other a woman and a stroller, and one with one guy.
the malls were not taken over by black mobs then.
Nope.
Isn't there one in the water at Chappaquiddick?
whole lotta BIG HAIR!
I don’t remember anywhere you couldn’t smoke, and I was just telling my kids this and they asked if there were fires everywhere. No, I guess we were smart enough to not burn things up with our cigarettes. I imagine though if you could still smoke everywhere there probably would be idiots setting fire to everything being careless.
No one had bones in their nose, or hideous tattoos all over.
People pretended they were human, somewhat.
You really summed that up! haha. The grunge kids were actually more depressed than the goth kids back then! They were essentially trying to seize rock back from the glamsters because they were angry that punk died, and wanted rock to be more rebellious. In the end, they just ended up being annoying. These were also the first of the “I don’t give a sh*t” crowd when it came to stagecraft and performance. With grunge, you could make a music video in your basement. Just throw on a pair of torn jeans and your skating shirt. Laziness followed thereafter. Way back when, musicians looked distinctly different from average joes. No longer. Heck, I could be a musician... if I learned how to play an instrument.
not all of them.
to be truly fair, gangs and gang-culture stuff killed a number of them.
i know two where i live done in by that. northridge mall and the old capitol court mall.
Homemade birthday cake, oh yes!
Stuff I remember from my past:
Rotary Phones
Black and white TV with VHF only reception
Cars with manual shift transmissions with shifters on the steering column
Cars with no air conditioning
Houses with no air conditioning
Schwinn bicycles made in USA
No computers, except mainframes
No cell phones
Gas at $0.75 per gallon being outrageous
Watergate hearings (ZZZZZZZZZ...all I remember is a bunch of guys saying “I don’t recollect”)
Stingray bikes with banana seats and sissy bars
Bell-bottom jeans
Quisp and Quake
You get the idea.
(I also had the privilege of living in the East Bay in the 1960’s - we weren’t in Berkeley, but close enough. Yikes!)
I visited the Mall of America in MN recently. That’s still a pretty classic mall. At least, that was until I saw a girl about 18 years old, wearing a fake tail hanging out the back of her pants. Kids today creep me out.
I know one that I will not go to because of gang BS, but I probably would not go there anyway now because the internet is so much simpler.
I haven’t gone to the mall to hang out since 1976.
I have not gone there to shop since 1996.
Now I guess a new crowd hangs out there.
We left in droves and the thugs took over.
Who the heck needs an Orange Julius when you could be “Thievin sippin on gin and juice?”

Same here. I let out a firm ‘ Dead ahead! ‘ which usually brings the person’s head up pretty fast and then they swerve.
I will not move for people who are so rude they’ll walk in downtown Boston not looking where there going.
I have to say older woman were not trying to look in their twenties.....mothers looked like mothers, grannies grannies...they weren't trying to be something they weren't.
The youth were “dressed” then. No pants hanging off their butts....no 13 year old girls with boops flopping out or their pubic hair ready to inch out over their pants..........
and NO muffin waisted blobs with tight shirts halfway up their waist!
I think woman cared more how they looked then....heavy woman today try and wear garments totally wrong....trying to convince the public they should enjoy the visual blubber.
Men looked like men.... were not Feminine looking....they were better looking then. It mattered to be masculine.
