Ragnar reminds me of the kid from Sons Of Anarchy.

I was thinking the exact same thing and even checked out IMDB to find out. Nope, different actors, but they could be brothers.

Good series from Michael Hirst but not near as good as Downton Abby.

“In 845, the Viking raider and extortionist extraordinary Ragnar Lothbrok slipped up the Seine with 120 ships—an estimated 5,000 men—to Paris, where King Charles the Bald paid him 7,000 pounds of gold and silver to leave in peace.

A contemporary wrote that “never had [Ragnar] seen, he said, lands so fertile and so rich, nor ever a people so cowardly.”

Historically, Rollo, from the Jarls (Earls) of Orkney, took his Normans (Norse Men)to France - where he signed a treaty with the king, making him hereditary Count of Rouen - Thus, we have ‘Normandy.”

His descendants were called Dukes of Normandy - down to William, Duke of Normandy - who attacked England and became “William the Conqueror”.

So, if they stick to history - don’t worry about Rollo ;o)

Now, Ragnar, on the other hand, has a rather viscious ending

Actually, no. I am not watching that lousy show. Rather watch dancing with the stars.

NOT!

The Minnesota Vikings show? or the Norsemen of Greenland?

For one thing, that’s not the same kind of chest protector Brunhilda wore.

Soooo,
It seems then that the French have been pussies for at least 1168 years?

To each his own. I tried and, to me, it’s just a soap opera in dirty furs.

“Best Vikings since Kirk and Tony hung up their shields.”

As I recall, Ernest Borgnine played Ragnar in this film. He was executed by being thrown into a pit of dogs, after asking for a sword so he may enter Valhalla.

I can’t remember my daughter’s phone number, but I remember that! He da MAN.

Great show! I wonder how accurate the viking life is depicted? Everything revolves around who are we going to raid, pillage and rape next. If you were unable to fight you had no right to live.

They get more right than they get wrong. I’m actually impressed.
