In a bizarre rant--or "open letter"--at Townhall, Scottie Hughes, the news director for the Tea Party News Network, falsely accuses former Alaska Governor and Republican Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin of rushing out of this year's CPAC and having a pattern of ignoring grassroots conservatives.
While Hughes's motivation for writing such a column may only be known to her, her accusations are demonstrably false.
Doug McMarlin, who has been with Palin since 2008 and was with her at this year's CPAC, was also perplexed by Hughes's characterization of the event. Palin met with volunteers, supporters and CPAC leadership at this year's event. Palin keynoted last year's CPAC and was the conference's last speaker, which allowed for her to mix with the audience following her speech.
This year, her slot fell on a Saturday afternoon, which meant there were scheduled speakers immediately after her remarks. It would not have been logistically possible for Palin to even greet the crowd or do talk radio hits from CPAC without causing a huge disturbance due to the crowds that would have swarmed her and disrupted the conference.
"Never underestimate the level the uninformed with a keyboard will go to make a point based on a lack of information," McMarlin told Breitbart News. "Lamestream, mainstream, and no stream media, it's unfortunate when those who lack facts lash out without regard. Governor Palin, as always, was with volunteers, supporters and fellow conservatives throughout her days at CPAC."
Hughes also implied that Palin only speaks to the grassroots through the teleprompter, but this accusation again does not even pass the smell test........

What in the flying fandango does that mean?
Sounds like Scottie Hughes is uninformed about Palin’s nature.
Sounds like Hughes has a jealousy problem. Good luck with that.
You have us all puzzled, what are you talking about, is she having secret meetings with “others” that we don’t hear about?
What puzzles me is why Townhall.com gave her the platform in which to spew this nonsense, especially in light of all the evidence to the contrary.
I see an alert freeper beat me to it.
We’re lways glad to see that!
You are welcome.
TPNN must have pulled it. Can’t find it on their site at all now.
Both have been quite successful in those areas.
And they both have tried their best to be seen as THE leaders of the Tea Party Movement.
The TPP were quite aggressive when they started up, and attacked The Tea Party Express and sent emails to all their signups denigrating the TPX.
Probably because the TPX was doing high profile nationwide tours in order to promote tea party principles and TPP wanted all the attention and...well...money.
The guy that started theteaparty.net (Todd Cefaratti, Freedom Organizer) is associated with the Tea Party News Network and ironically enough they both have the same address....in a "virtual" office space in DC right down the street from the White House. $149 a month.
It's only natural that they would diss Palin, who is a stand up Tea Party type of individual.
There is more information showing that these people are outside of conservatism, and don't adhere to Tea Party principles...unless as a cover to make money.
They begged for extra money before CPAC to "protect" Scottie Nell Hughes because the nasty leftists were threatening her, or so they say.
Here's a link to a thread here at FR where Cefaratti introduced himself to Free Republic as a tea party guy. He is so full of himself he said that this blog...Free Republic..."was started to look in to the validity of our organization"
He was called on many falsehoods, such as saying he did a nationwide bus tour.
He was referring to the Tea Party Express tour, which he had NOTHING to do with.
He slunk away from FR and went on to make money and a "name" for himself.
And here he is with another organization and hyping his orgs as THE TEA PARTY!
The Tea Party Movement is alive and well in spite of those that try to co-opt and destroy it.
It's no surprise that they want to marginalize Palin, like the GOPe and liberals have been doing for some time. Not going to work.
The Low Information Voter will think that Sarah and the Real Tea Party has a split. When in truth are were never more attached
This is just the work of some Republican Wanna-be PUTZ!
: > )
Children, Can we all get along? It sounds to me like Breitbart is attacking a competitor site that has sprung up. And they don’;t want to read and understand what Scottie Hughes wrote. Plus, the article was on Townhall and not the TPNN so it is smearing the whole site with what she wrote. SO here we go with the infighting again. All the past three weeks has been infighting after infighting. Getting sick of it. Scottie is a smart woman. She worked producing various radio shows including Rusty Humphries. She joined and helped create the TPNN. I guess the rivalry on the right is part of the problem.
Is it possible that Hughes is an infil-traitor? Or is it the hate-the-competing-successful-woman syndrome?
Oh, it was there alright...
Really?
Condescending and then a Rodney King quote???
Well, groanup, the TPNN and Teaparty.net are joined at the hip and work together to be the ONE AND ONLY Tea Party authority, leaders and organization.
The Tea Party Patriots tried that and failed, as will any group that tries to demean real Tea Party Movement people and groups, in this case Sarah Palin.
They have taken the rope they grabbed and ran with and they are now using it to hang themselves out to dry.
It sounds to me like Breitbart is attacking a competitor site that has sprung up.
Opinions expressed when ill informed cause statements like that.
Breitbart is well established and I'm sure would laugh at TPNN being described as competition. How foolish.
Scottie Hughes is a tool they are using to push their agenda, and have the help of Karl Rove and other faux conservatives also.
She joined and helped create the TPNN. I guess the rivalry on the right is part of the problem.
No, the problem is they are working to destroy the Tea Party Movement from the inside, seeing themselves as grassroots and Palin and other GENUINE tea party individuals and chapters/orgs as astroturf (Hughes words if you read her spiel,) a term used first I think by Pelosi to describe the whole TPM
Don't forget the guy that started theteaparty.net is a marketer who collects email addresses and sells advertising.
He saw the TPM as a cash cow and has raked in millions.
LOL both!
Women are soooo jealous of Palin.
I don't know how to classify them, but the men who over the last few years have expressed their hatred for Sarah Palin were infected with PES. Palin Emasculation Syndrome.
McCain et al and a bunch of ex FR members who went ballistic when they were called on their lies and hate.
Need repeated until someone listens!

Oh I think it was seen by all those that needed to be informed.
*crickets* say a lot....
