The Streets of America in the Very Near Future…
SHTF Plan ^ | 3/21/13 | Mac Slavo

Posted on 03/21/2013 4:57:52 PM PDT by Kartographer

A recent study noted that the majority of people have enough food in their pantries to feed their household for about three days and that seemingly stable societies are really just nine meals from anarchy. With most of us dependent on just-in-time transportation systems to always be available, few ever consider the worst case scenario.

For tens of thousands of east coast residents that worst case scenario is now playing out in real-time. No longer are images of starving people waiting for government handouts restricted to just the third-world.

In the midst of crisis, once civilized societies will very rapidly descend into chaos when essential infrastructure systems collapse.

Though the National Guard was deployed before the storm even hit, there is simply no way for the government to coordinate a response requiring millions of servings of food, water and medical supplies

Many east coast residents who failed to evacuate or prepare reserve supplies ahead of the storm are being forced to fend for themselves.

Frustration and anger have taken hold, as residents have no means of acquiring food or gas and thousands of trucks across the region remain stuck in limbo

I was actually thinking about that on the way into work today. I thought about how during World War II they had to stuff old shoe does into their tires so they could keep driving. People adapt and make due.

Thanks, had some cute angels dressed as nurses.

It taught me to take much better care of myself. Something like that under Obamacare or after TSHTF and I’d be toast.

You either know your nieghbors and have a pact to protect eachother’s property, or you live in a secluded area, or you take what you can and bug out. In a breakdown, being on your own in a suburban or urban setting will see anything you have of value taken by the mob or by the authorities.

Sigh. This is why I want to get the heck out of where we live ...30 mins outside of DC. I know we will be toast when TSHTF. I can’t seem to impress this point upon my dear husband, who continues to work like a dog at his job and spend our money on foolish home improvement projects. I am at my wits end with him.

I had a strep throat once.

Went almost 5 days without eating.

Late on the 5th day I managed to eat a dill pickle.

Best meal I’ve ever had in my life.

The old fashioned method of a couple of dogs would go a long way...watch or guard would be fine.

You can try stretching some barbed wire around it and make it as difficult as possible to get in.

Gaucho 4 barbed is about as nasty as you can get.

After handling it you wont thank me.

Interesting. I’m not a hunter, so my knowledge of shot shells is limited. And only in the area of self defense.

I have a Savage 350 with 18.5” barrel.

I do have the longer barrel (28”) also which can accommodate chokes, but I know nothing about chokes. Fact is, I’ve never put a round through the longer barrel.

same way you would against rabbits ect.

trip lines with bells, stock up on those at Christmas time, old cans strung on a line, put around your garden anything that can make alot of noise, bubblewrap if it’s all you’ve got. Any one of those things will alert the dog (or cat) if you’ve got one.

Yes, I know MN, I am native Iowan and have been in your neck of the woods (including the North Woods) numerous times. I love the state for its many times ‘10,000 lakes’. You will have access to good, clean water, as I will, but those on the big city plantations will quickly run out when the city pumps stop.

72 hrs is about max for survival w/o water. Food, if forced, we can go much longer. I lived in Northern Ireland when Bobby Sands, an IRA prisoner in the Maze did his hunger strike. He survived 66 days without food. Obviously he drank water. One of the engineers who worked for me over there knew Bobby Sands. Those were interesting times...

The shorter barrel is for defense (you can maneuver and point it quicker), the longer barrel for hunting. My personal choice for defense in place is the pump shotgun (with vertical foregrip), but if moving around I like a semi-auto with pistol grip stock. I've devised lots of tricks for extending the mag tubes and carrying ammo on the guns.

One trick many folks never learn regarding recoil of a shotgun is to press the weapon foreward, so that the muscles of the support arm absorb recoil rather than allowing all the recoil to translate to the shoulder. But even with that I prefer a 20 agauge at my age and eye sight.

I have a little semi in 20 gauge which has 21 rounds of ammo carried in & on the weapon in such a way that the gun is perfectly balanced at the reciever. I fashioned a mag extension so it holds seven, there are seven in a side-saddle on the reciever, and seven in a cuff on the stock. I can still shoot it one handed if need be, and there's a good pistol laser under the mag tube..

I have a pistol grip 12 20 inch with a light/laser sight attached for home defense...00 and slugs alternating.

I also have both a 12 and a 20 with 24 inch...loaded with slugs, and not for deer, but for longer range than the pistol grip. I will stop vehicles with these if necessary.

For the pistol grip I have a sling that will come across my belly to absorb the recoil. Works really nice.

I didn't know thugs were immobile.

There are not many thugs who would come into our area. Just saying... Most would stay inside Austin and never think of coming into our town.

In South Africa the whites kept dogs; they can detect them further out.

Dogs can detect Democrats further out? Where do I get such a dog?

My post was about showing the low crime rates in the Northern sections of the USA.

Someone would have to pay me to even visit Chicago.

If you live in an urban or suburban area, it will be next to impossible. You’ll need multiple sentries to stand watch 24/7. Either work out a plan with your neighbors for mutual sentry and food- and water-gathering tasks or have a remote retreat location.

Frankly, if we get to this point, there is very little chance that you and your neighbors, even if heavily armed and trained, will be victorious against the masses from from the urban and suburban areas that go out seeking food.

You really need to have a remote location, preferably in a small farming-type town of like-minded people.

As the experts say, why wait? Getting out of dodge may be a problem in itself. Move there now and be all set up for WTSHTF.
