Now we are finally getting somewhere. Just like Obama is ineligible technically because his fathers British Nationality 'governed' his birth status in 1961, Ted Cruz is ineligible too. Fox News has confirmed it and rightly so. Sean Hannity made a huge blunder the other day and declared Ted Cruz a natural born citizen because he was born to a American mother in Canada. He was so wrong. Cruz is a 14th Amendment U.S. 'statutory' (not natural born) citizen which is something completely different than a Article 2 Section 1 Constitutional natural born Citizen which is explicitly designed only for the presidency by the framers.
“That is something we must fight to stop from happening. It goes against our founders original intent.”
Exactly. Yours is one of the clearest-headed posts on this thread.
Is “what’s good for the goose, good for the gander”?
Or... is it not — because the Constitution says so?
If our side is as willing to toss out the requirements of the Constitution, just so that our guy (who isn’t any more “qualified” than their guy was) can get in because we like him — what does that do for our argument as desiring to “protect the Constitution”?
Rubios parents were Cuban citizens when he was born
Thank you!!
Only thing really to do on these threads, sit back, grab some popcorn and enjoy the show.
I have read about Cruz’s father being a Castro supporter and that the family with son Ted lived for for four years in Canada where Ted was born. My take is that birth in Canada sets the ‘natural’ allegiance there unless revoked at age of consent. Whether Ted Cruz has done such I don’t know but in any case he will not be a ‘natural’ born citizen which is tied to country of birth and parentage.
I think (and hope) you’re right.
Look.
Here is the wider point.
If Obama was not held to these standards, why do you and Fox want to crucify Cruz?
It’s all for naught unless Ted Cruz in the well of the Senate proclaims Obama to be ineligible due to his proclaimed father’s alien status in 1964.
What was JQ Adams' wife's citizenship when Charles was born, not where was she born?

The meaning of NBC in the Constitution shouldn’t have been, and wasn’t, subject to legislative reinterpretation.
The judiciary refusing to take up eligibility cases IS leaving victims - for instance, Ted Cruz, who would never have “standing” to find out if he’s eligible until AFTER he’s spent millions of dollars and lots of time getting nominated. This is asinine. The judiciary IS hurting people by refusing to do their duty.
This is one of the things I said when I presented to the NE legislative committee on an eligibility bill. I said the issue is NOT going to go away with Obama, because we’ve got a lot of (especially R) political leaders who have different birth circumstances that would create questions. The system itself needs to clarify these questions.
What Cruz should do is challenge Obama’s eligibility.
Or on the flip side, if they make this a big issue and the rats jump on board, then you can invalidate Obama’s presidency.
Strategery?
The problem here is that some are more eager to hold Cruz’s feet to the fire than Obama’s.
Fact is, that all the birther debate DID NOT STOP OBAMA.
WHY BEAT UP CRUZ?
I swear to God, We lose again and again because of the law of man.
To me, this is all BS. Cruz’ mom was American, so he’s good to go. Absolutely, he is eligible. Bob
From what I have read your statement, “Cruzs father was also a US citizen at the time of his birth. “ is incorrect.
Wish like hell he was NBC, having campaigned for him in both Primary and General, there is no doubt Cruz is the right man, just slightly the wrong place.
Although its a given the dems will never adhere to NBC or much else in the Constitution, should we, who do beleive in the Constitution, now also look the other way if NBC is in doubt for one of our own? I hope not, as its said “once a camel’s nose is under the tent....”
Says who?
A poor strategery IMHO
You’re an illegal alien!
If Cruz chooses to run, his eligibility will be decided by the voters and their electors. The courts know that they have no constitutional authority to rule on a presidential candidate’s qualifications.
“’Precedent has been set.
Why attack our own?”
Old saying:
“Two wrongs don’t make a right”.
Ever heard of it?
FOX does not WANT Cruz to be eligible, b/c he is brilliant and conservative. And he means it. So sorry Ann Coulter and FOX, screw you. If Cruz runs, he has my vote. Unless Palin runs as well; then, I’ll have a tough call. Bob
