Now we are finally getting somewhere. Just like Obama is ineligible technically because his fathers British Nationality 'governed' his birth status in 1961, Ted Cruz is ineligible too. Fox News has confirmed it and rightly so. Sean Hannity made a huge blunder the other day and declared Ted Cruz a natural born citizen because he was born to a American mother in Canada. He was so wrong. Cruz is a 14th Amendment U.S. 'statutory' (not natural born) citizen which is something completely different than a Article 2 Section 1 Constitutional natural born Citizen which is explicitly designed only for the presidency by the framers.
wow, so if I am on vacation while pregnant, say I am in the Bahamas chilling on the beach, and my baby comes early, my baby is not a citizen? Just want to clarify....
Fox has become ridiculous.
Cruz’s father was also a US citizen at the time of his birth.
Obama Sr however never had allegiance to anyone.
Look.
Here is the wider point.
If Obama was not held to these standards, why do you and Fox want to crucify Cruz?
And exactly how did this keep the Kenyan interloper from being elected to be HMFWIC twice???
I have a feeling that the people who will jump on Cruz’s “ineligibility” the most will be Obama’s demoncraps.
We lost the last election because of fixated single issue voters.
I would continue to push Cruz. Let’s see how the Democrats react. If the Democrats set a precedent with Obama, I don’t see why we should undermine Cruz.
Excuse Me! If you are born abroad to American Citizens you are an American Citizen by birth and most likely the birth was recorded at a US Consulate. John Mc Cain was born in Panama. Many US “Natural Born” Citizens are born abroad to U.S. Servicemen serving overseas. Are they ineligible too? You are $#%&%!
What does Sen. Cruz have to say about this?
I don’t have a TV but it seems, based on what I read, Fox is getting kinda nutty.
It’s because of the double standard. Do u think the Rats/media will let Cruz get away with a court decision saying he’s eligible?
You are making Sarah Palin cry.
Several reasons: 1. Because they can. 2. Because Cruz is a Republican. 3. Because Cruz is not a Democrat. 4. Because Cruz is not one of them. 5.Becuse they worship, love, and adore, either latently or openly, obama.
“because his fathers British Nationality ‘governed’ his birth status in 1961,
You don’t know the meaning of the word ‘governed’. Putting it in single quotes doesn’t make some magical definition for it.
Two Americans abroad give birth to a US citizen. Trying to redefine “natural” is also a stupid blunder by people trying to sound intelligent.
At least he’s honest about the circumstances under which he was born. It’s not like he’s manufacturing a fake birth certificate or anything. Just sayin’
“wow, so if I am on vacation while pregnant, say I am in the Bahamas chilling on the beach, and my baby comes early, my baby is not a citizen? Just want to clarify....”
Your baby would be a “born” citizen but not a natural born citizen. There was a question as to John McCain’s eligibility due to this same definition.
Marco Rubio is not a natural born citizen either due to his parents not being citizens at the time of his birth. But just watch the GOP band together to try to get him nominated in 2016. If they let Rubio run they have to let Cruz run. Neither one of them is eligible. They can both serve their country in the Senate or as Governors.
But of course if you are half black and a Democrat its OK that you can’t really prove where you were born and your Dad was a Kenyan.
I don’t think so.
Children of American citizens born overseas are indisputably American citizens. It’s a question of their being ‘natural born citizens,’ as called for in the Constitution as a prerequisite to presidential eligibility that is in dispute.
He wasn't but it doesn't matter. Cruz was born an American citizen by virtue of his mother's U.S. citizenship. He didn't have to naturalize. If he wants to run for President, the Senate will extend to him the same courtesy they did McCain and pass a resolution declaring him eligible. Birthers might stomp their feet and file a bunch of lawsuits that go nowhere but there won't be any serious legal obstacles that Cruz will have to overcome to get on the ballot.
