For all we know, it could be happening right now--high above the pine line a robot hovers, looking down. On suspicions that at-large cop vigilante Christopher Dorner is holed up east of Los Angeles in the rugged and snowy San Bernardino Mountains, law enforcement officials have apparently taken to aerial spy drones, in addition to ramping up drone surveillance along the Mexico border, to find the man.
Word of the move broke this weekend in a report in the Express. An unnamed senior police source told the British outlet that certain drone-ready thermal imaging capabilities may offer the only hope for pinpointing Dorner, who's wanted in connection to the recent shooting deaths of a police officer in Riverside and of a former police chief's daughter and fiancé. "On the ground, it's like looking for a needle in a haystack," the official added. On Saturday, the report continues, as some 125 officers canvassed Big Bear Lake for the "Rambo-style" Naval reservist and former Los Angeles cop, "it was revealed that Dorner has become the first human target for remotely-controlled airborne drones on US soil."
And just like that, breathless tweeting and sub-thread chatter alike were off to the races. You know that cop killer Dorner? He's the first person ever to be tracked by drones on American soil. It was a provocative, if dire claim. And it still is. But is it true?
If in fact drones are being used here, it's hard to say what kind. The Express article makes no mention as to what sort of spy bird authorities are relying on to survey tracts of wilderness for a lone human with survivalist training (and who's promising to wage asymmetrical warfare on the police, to boot).(continued)

Sucks having the criminals in charge.
Next step:
Install implants in Obamacare befit recipients with RFID which transmits a strong enough signal that can be picked up by armed surveillance drones.
No need to rely on thermal optics if the pass over or nearby him.
Taxes not paid; tickets not paid? No problem. Obamacare benefits recipients are linked to their bank accounts in the program. Drone reads their RFID and extracts the money automatically. If the recipient hasn’t paid for an extended time it goes before the death panel committee which will be comprised of humans first then later decided automatically by a computer whether the drone takes you out based on a point system. Politicians are eempt from the database and being targeted because they aren’t in the system.

You must feel strongly about this.
So far the Tacoma police have shot up a blue pickup truck with two women in it, and a black pickup with a skinny white guy in it looking for a grey truck with a fat black guy.
What good are cameras in the sky if the police don’t know how to use their eyes anyway?
That system is called “The Number of the Beast” in the Bible.
He may be black, but he is not Muslim, so he is not their people.
Just think how much more effective these lawmen could be with drones...
And I say it sounds just about right and needs to be posted more than once.
You must feel strongly about this.

The one flaw with the American justice system is that before drones with thermal imaging, there was no hope for pinpointing fugitives; apparently our law enforcement was hopeless prior to the dawn of this new technology, but now, in the age of Obama, hope abounds!
“...holed up east of Los Angeles in the rugged and snowy San Bernardino Mountains”
Why do they think that. Why would he torch his truck...essentially sending out an ‘I’m here’ beacon, unless he was about to exit the area? If I were to bet, I’d say the one place he absolutely is not, is anywhere in those mountains near his burning truck.
The US's borders with Mexico and Canada have for years been watched by hulking surveillance drones.
In 2011, law enforcement in North Dakota called in an Air Force Predator drone to assist in the arrest of a sovereigntist family who were refusing to let cops onto their property after stealing some cows from a neighbor.
That episode--if you want to put numbers on all this--was the first official instance of drones being used to spy on humans on American soil. It's a landmark case that as of August 2012 was upheld by a North Dakota court.
But let's be real. It's not just bad guys--as of last year, US military drone pilots were running surveillance-training exercises on unknowing civilians in the American southwest.
Bump
From the article:
“...the LAPD just posted a $1 million reward for information leading to Dorner’s capture—the biggest reward of its kind ever posted in the region. California, of course, is an incubator for hobbyist droners. Not like they should liftoff their DIY drones, or anything, without the reasonable expectation of getting into serious shitstorms with authorities and, potentially, Dorner himself. But don’t be surprised when you hear about it happening.”
Great. Offer $1 million for info leading to Dorner’s capture and what will creative, opportunistic Americans do? They will put up their own DIY drones and try to find Dorner themselves and damn the anti-drone regs!

Why do they think that. Why would he torch his truck...
His truck had a broken axle.
He was a service road use by local ski resorts for lift maintenance. .
His family had a cabin in Big Bear and he knew the area.
They found two guns left in the truck. AR15 is what I think they said.
This area is also a popular summer resort and about half the cabins are empty this time of year.
He burnt the truck to hide evidence that he could not carry with him when his truck unexpectedly broke it’s axle.
I guessing that they think it was unexpected because of the guns he had to leave.
Other evidence to think he is not in the area.
There are foot trails in the area including the PCT Pacific Crest Trail that he could hike off the mountain on. He had time to hike down before the heavy snow started.
There would be many other people on the trails this time of year, but enough that he would be seen. He left the two gun in the truck so he could hike down the mountain.
This part what I heard on local radio and part living in the area. I hiked have other trails near this area but not in Big Bear area.
