I’ve got it!
All 50 states can secede from Washington DC.

The movement has gained the attention of some in the national media, enough for stories to be done. The media is scoffing at these petitions. One ABC report mentioned a counter petition that demands signers of the succession petitions be deported.

I didn't like the election results either. But, there is no way I could possibly support a State leaving the Union.

Personally, I’ve always been pretty irritated that NY, CA, MA, and VT have a say in our national government.

Apparently that History teacher doesn’t know his subject all that well. It wasn’t secession that caused all the pain that resulted from the Civil War. It was Lincoln’s unconstitutional response, attacking those southern states that expressed a desire to be free of that national government whose constitutional responsibility was to ensure they had that right.

If secession will not work, how about expulsion? Let’s expel California, New York, Illinois, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Maryland, Washington, DC, Hawaii, Delaware, Maine, Rhode Island, and Vermont. If we got rid of the extreme left fringe of our country, we could follow the Constitution and restore the rule of law. I don’t see a down side - they would have the socialism they want, and we would have the freedom that we want.

History repeats itself. Look what Reagan did to the USSR, after the collapse they fragmented. That will happen in the USA when we too collapse. The red will seperate and become oil exporters like in the USSR.

Please. Before you secede, read the 10th Amendment to the Constitution and begin the impeachment of Justice Roberts for violating his oath to uphold and defend the US constitution from ALL ENEMIES foreign and DOMESTIC.
This must be the battle for the hearts of American conservatives, not secession.

Doesn't the Constitution provide that the states that want to secede needn't seek out permission from the government? Couldn't they just secede by force if necessary?
I'm not a Constitutional scholar; just posing the question. The only solutions I see to us wrestling our country from the grasp of the leftists is to "reset",either by revolution, or secession and possibly reuniting somewhere down the line.

Apportion a states electoral votes as a percentage of counties won by a candidate in that state. In California, Obama won 29 counties while Romney won 29 counties as well. The electoral votes in this case would be divided 50/50 or 27.5 EVs for Obama and 27.5 EVs for Romney.
This means that in places like Pennsylvania, a candidate could not just pander to the large cities, they would also have to campaign in rural areas and take rural needs into account.

If secession is what a large amount of people want then they are going to have to do a lot more planning than just signing a few petitions.

If a State can secede from the Union, then is it legal for a county to secede from a State, a municipality from a county or a parcel of land from the county?
