I'm a Jets fan, and I have been one for almost 25 years now. I'm also a Tim Tebow fan, since his days playing for the Gators in my native Florida. He seems like a really quality guy, in pretty much every respect.
The only knock on Tebow is that he can't throw accurately. Maybe that will continue to be valid, or maybe not. In the meantime the Jets have Mark Sanchez, the worst QB in the league stinking up the place every week, and Rex Ryan continues to stand by his man.
I'm confused. They say Tebow can't throw well. He's a QB with 16 starts who completes 48% of his passes, but Ryan says Sanchez has "all the tools" to be a great NFL QB. Meanwhile Sanchez completes about... 48% of his passes.
Sanchez's defenders say he's "competent," while Tebow has shown he can be electric, and that he has the ability to transcend the game and take a team on his shoulders.
Tebow has shown the ability to play poorly, for sure. But watching Mark Sanchez play football is like watching someone fight Alzheimer's. It tears your heart out.
While Tebow sits the bench, Mark Sanchez has 26 turnovers in his last 12 games, and all Rex Ryan can says is Sanchez is the man "because I said so." God, why did you make me a Jet fan?

The interceptions Sanchez throws kills me. When they’re behind, they have nothing to lose by trying Tebow. What’s he going to do? Prove them wrong. Show up Sanchez? You’re paying two QBs and one of them ain’t working you have nothing to lose trying the other.
Jets paid Sanchez all those multiple millions but he fails to wow them with his less than stellar play. Sometimes he plays fairly well but not lately. Give Tebow a chance - the guy is a proven winner.
Tebow couldn’t throw in college either, I guess, but he led the Gators to win after win after win.
Tebow knows how to win, no matter what it takes and I believe he’d help the Jets to win also if they would just play him.
He’s no Eli Manning but it seems obvious to me it’s all about religion.
That would be a problem for a Pro QB.
I am a Pats fan, and it isn’t that I want to see the Jets improve, but if I were in their place, I think they need to make the move away from Sanchez.
I simply don’t think he has it in him. There seems to be something emotionally fragile about him, even though he puts on a brave face. He seems to be a decent guy, not a douchebag, but I don’t think he is capable of carrying the team or even dragging it along. When the team has its pieces in place, he DOES seem competent, but when it doesn’t, he doesn’t rise up and pull his teammates along.
I am not a big believer in Tebow, but he would give the Jets something they seem to be sorely missing right now (from an outside observer) and that is...heart.
Again, I say this as someone who has taken his Patriots hat off, just my observations.
The Jets are just bad in all phases of the game, including coaching! They suck!
That is kind of the way I see it.
I want Tebow in KC.
BTW - they don't hate him because he is Christian. They hate him because he is a pro-life icon.
I will say this...I had to tip my hat to Rex Ryan recently.
His season is going up in flames, and he came in first place as an overrated coach in a NFLPA player poll, and he was able to make a joke about it saying that he finally beat the guy in second place...Bill Belichick.
I’ll say this for him-he seems a lot more interesting and engaging than Belichick, and would probably be fun to have a beer with.

Elway trashed Tebow in public, refused to transfer Tebow to the team that wanted him and stuck him with a team that publicly stated he would never start.....Tebow is a man of quality and keeps on being an upstanding guy.
Elway is a jerk and deserves to be throttled in public.
Yep. They had Tebow playing “1 Run up the middle”. “2 Run up the middle”. “3 pass 3rd and long”. Just watching on TV I could guess 80% of plays. And he even brought them to the playoffs last year with the lousy, pathetic play calling.
It looks to me that coach Pete Carroll has got his offensive team clicking with quarterback Russell Wilson.
Tebow is valuable because his entire team, including the defense plays at a higher level when he is the game quarterback. It’s more like the team carries Tebow on their shoulders than the other way around. But Tebow is the catalyst.
Oh c’mon.... are you seriously suggesting the Jets aren’t playing Tebow because he’s an outspoken Christian. So let me get this straight. They trade for him... and then keep him on the bench because he’s a Christian. When they knew he was a Christian when they got him. Paying him a million or so a year in the process. Yeah. Makes perfect sense.
I agree with the other poster. Religion isn’t the factor here. Sanchez is already on shaky ground confidence-wise. Bringing in Tebow would damage Sanchez to the point they would have to admit he is a bust.
I don’t think they are ready to do that (a BIG step) but I think the dynamic is that, not religion.
