When my kids were born in ‘75 and ‘76, men in the delivery room was just being accepted.
In the U. S., in 1964, you’re right. I don’t know what the case was in Kenya, but my take is that dads of that time pretty much accepted they were out of the loop.
Of course this tries to pass off the doting father image. I’m not convinced the guy was even on the same continent when his son was born.
