Fox military analyst Col. David Hunt checked in with us again after the revelation that there were multiple listening posts which heard the cries for help from the US Embassy in Libya, and none of them did anything.
Isn't it just patently obvious to any thinking person, even without the slightest military experience, that this would be the case? Is it thinkable to anyone that our embassies could come under a major attack and the Pres. and all those other high level officials would not be notified immediately? Does anyone think we don't have good enough communications technology now to patch them all into every bit of electronic feed coming from that consulate?
Put down your GPS-wired, Google Earth-integrated, 4g internet-connected iPhone for a minute and think about that.
Hello? Is there anyone out there?
Is everyone in this country zombified now?
Beuller? Beuller?
It really doesn’t make any difference how close or far away our assets are from a firefight if no one gives them an order to act.
Maggie: Are you asking for source of that quote? Debate transcript below.
I heard that Jen Rubin highlighted it on her blog. Bill Henner on Fox picked it up from her or on his own, I don't know, BUT FR beat both of them. THAT fact had never been reported before and no one picked it up as a new fact until the day after.
DEBATE TRANSCRIPT with that Obama quote: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2945950/posts
Q: This question actually comes from a brain trust of my friends at Global Telecom Supply in Mineola yesterday. We were sitting around talking about Libya, and we were reading and became aware of reports that the State Department refused extra security for our embassy in Benghazi, Libya, prior to the attacks that killed four Americans. Who was it that denied enhanced security and why?
PRESIDENT OBAMA: Well, let me, first of all, talk about our diplomats, because they serve all around the world and do an incredible job in a very dangerous situation. And these aren't just representatives of the United States; they're my representatives. I send them there, oftentimes into harm's way. I know these folks, and I know their families. So nobody's more concerned about their safety and security than I am.
So as soon as we found out that the Benghazi consulate was being overrun, I was on the phone with my national security team, and I gave them three instructions. Number one, beef up our security and and and procedures not just in Libya but every embassy and consulate in the region. Number two, investigate exactly what happened, regardless of where the facts lead us, to make sure that folks are held accountable and it doesn't happen again. And number three, we are going to find out who did this, and we are going to hunt them down, because one of the things that I've said throughout my presidency is when folks mess with Americans, we go after them.
"It really doesnt make any difference how close or far away our assets are from a firefight if no one gives them an order to act."
Carr: This is like something out of a movie, where some non-com says, Colonel, colonel, our men are getting slaughtered there. And no one has any interest in following it up.
It seems like fiction; it doesnt seem like it would happen in real life.
HUNT: It's happened a lot in my time, unfortunately. Like I said, we saw it in the Congo: we saw it in Bosnia. We've seen a lot of incidents where an organization will not act. Its frozen, and this is the case.
And that sergeant you are talking about is actually a general. This is immediately communicated that this embassy is under attack violently, and generals are looking on their IPADS at the pictures, and thats how good this stuff is. Those images are all over the place. And we knew this was bad, getting worse, and did nothing, and then lied about it for 8 days?
Thanks for a sleepless night! Seriously, how can they get away with this? Somebody should send everybody at FOX and the internet sites this info. This is so disturbing. We were stationed at the EUCOM base. SOCEUR and AFRICOM were also there.
“Apparently no one in our government felt a full out assault on a U.S. consulate compound was worthy enough to break away from their daily routine. “
Given alternate logs that prove otherwise, it sure looks like that to me.
Attack started about 3:30pm, Washington time.
We’ll meet around 5-ish. How does that work for you?
I hate to say this but there are senators and congress critters on our side that already know what happened because they were briefed. It may not have been a factual briefing by the WH..but lots of them have ways of finding out stuff. Why haven’t they leaked? That really bothers me a lot. Washington should be leaking like a sieve by now, but very little is getting out. My guess is that Obama and his minions have wrapped it in a nice little package called ‘national security’ , so that it shuts everyone up. They can’t talk with the penalty of disclosing national security secrets hanging over their heads. I am afraid that AQ and other MB groups have gotten hold of Libya and Syria’s chemical weapon WMDS and our government is freaking out.
‘the Taliban is in the building’ and Panetta doesn’t know where the chemical weapons are......remember he announced that just days before this attack or was it a few days after? I know it was recently.
Wow. Makes sense this was recorded and witnessed in real time, but why haven’t we heard about this before Oct 12 from one of the hundreds who heard this all unfold? This is beyond compare with Watergate. There was an ability to act and — what, everyone’s playing Bart Simpson with the consequence of lives and intel lost?
Hmmm...
HUNT: No, no, no. State and the White House. The National Military Command Center would not have been able, allowed, to launch---I don't believe---an attack without political permission because they would be launching into a country. I don't think the NMCC could make that call on their own. And it wouldn't be State; it would be the White House.
But again, Howie, during this attack, Clinton is informed---that is part of the procedure---and the President of the US is informed, as is the Vice President, as is the Chief of Staff, and on and on. A six hour firefight in Benghazi is not classified. It is not a secret. It's an event, and it's a serious event. And when the ambassador dies, when they know he has been captured, it even goes up higher. And we couldn't get an FBI team in there for three weeks.
We had CNN reporters in there picking up the Ambassador's diary. This was ineptness, incompetence, and lying. I think Biden ought to be called on it, just like we did with Clinton when she said she was being shot at. People were there Mr. Vice President. You are lying. This was not an intelligence failure, and he knows that.
“What also happens is that their command centers, National Command Center (CIA), White House Situation Room-— twelve [Command Centers] that I won’t bore you with. At least twelve separate Command Centers are listening to the same conversation. It went on for six hours. The question I think, besides the fact that Biden is lying about it, is Why didn’t we do anything? Why didn’t the United States government react? “
This is what Romney needs to say directly to Zero’s face during Mondays debate! Then he needs to explain how this would have been handled if it happened under his watch.
I can practically guaran-damn-tee, that during the 6-hour attack, Obama was huddled with Varlerie Jarrett and David Axelrod, coming up with the “It was the video” cover story.
Instead of telling the military to pull out all of the stops for a quick-reaction rescue mission.
Don’t we have some rapid-response teams in Spain or Italy? How long would it take them to get to Libya?
Folks, please read the entire transcript, concerning the inaction of the White House and Obama, while the fatal siege of the consulate was streaming in for six hours.
Hundreds of military, intelligence, state dept, and white house personnel heard the attack live, and Obama DID NOTHING. (Except cook up the "it was the video" lie and cover story.)
A huge thank you from me, too. I passed it on...
This makes Watergate and even Fast and Furious seem like almost nothing.
Bump
