I have seen many debates in my life, but never before have I witnessed such a complete defeat of an opponent. Obama was so outmatched, that it was almost as if Romney was toying with the one term president at times. It even seemed like he was holding back a chuckle, as he watched Obama incoherently ramble on in a pathetic attempt to match wits with a man who's IQ is vastly superior to his. More then a few times Obama wanted to continue, but wasn't allowed to because I am sure Jim felt pity that he would just inflict more damage upon himself. Maybe that's when Jim Lehrer realized that Obama was going to get routed.
Near the end of the debate, when Mitt responded to the question of what he thought the role of the government was, you could almost sense him going in for the kill as he began reciting the constitution and what our founding fathers meant by the words they wrote. By then Lehrer must have known that he was witnessing a meltdown of his Manchurian President. From beginning to end, Obama was playing small ball against a big leaguer who spent 90 minutes schooling him on the fine art of debating. If it were a boxing match, Jim would have stopped the debate while awarding Romney a TKO.
What I witnessed was a real leader exposing Barrack Hussein Obama to be nothing more than a small time community organizer. A small time Chicago thug being crushed by a like a cheap tin can. It was the kind of defeat that many do not recover from, and only time will tell if the man-child who would be king can. Yes, in my opinion, it was that complete of a defeat.
Truth is, if I had not watched it myself, I would not have believed it, but I have never been so delighted to admit I was wrong. Yesterday I posted my opinion that regardless of how bad Obama did, the MSM would find a way to claim he won. However, even when Ranaldus Magnus handed Carter his ass on a platter, he didn't look as pathetic as Obama did last night. Now we can all sit back and watch the MSM begin their damage control. After all, Obama's own campaign was downplaying his chances long before the debate began, so I expect them to quickly change the subject as they get back on message that Obama is invincible.
On FOX news,(video below) Krauthammer may have stated that he thought Romney won big by two touchdowns, but he preferenced it by making excuses for Obama when he brought up the way George Bush lost to John Kerry in their first debate. He went on to say that, like Bush, he expects Obama to recover and do better in the next debate. So it seems like inside the beltway Charly has already began downplaying the significance of Obama's meltdown. (by the way, GW did not lose that first debate to Kerry)
As I scan the reports, it looks like most conservative and liberal pundits think Romney won decisively. Republican National Committee chairman, Reince Priebus, believes the debate will go down in history as "one of the most historically one-sided debates in history."
Liberal comedian and TV host, Bill Maher, tweeted: "Obama's not looking like he came for a job interview, Romney so far does." In another tweet he said,"Obama made a lot of great points tonight. Unfortunately, most of them were for Romney".
Bill Gasto, a senior fellow of the liberal think tank, Brookings Institute, commented that: "Romney did himself considerable good. ... I would not be surprised to learn that a majority of American people think he won it outright." Probably the most telling response came from MSNBC's uber liberal pundit Chris Matthews, who was so upset with Obama that he recommended the president begin watching more MSNBC:
"Where was Obama tonight? He should watch -- well not just Hardball, Rachel, he should watch you, the Reverend Al, Lawrence. There's a hot debate going on in this country, here on this network is where we're having the debate. We have our knives out, we go after the people and the facts. What was he doing tonight? He went in there disarmed."
I am guessing that Mathews has lost that tingling feeling he had in his legs for Obama, after he listened to a speech he gave during the 2008 Democrat primary.(video above)
I understand that somewhere between 55 and 60 million Americans were expected to tune into the debate. In a poll of 430 people by CNN/ORC International, 67% thought Romney won, compared to 25% for Obama. A CBS News instant poll, had uncommitted voters agreeing by 2 to 1 that Romney beat Obama, and in an experimental online poll by Google, 38.9% to 35.5% thought Obama was performing better early in the debate, but after the debate ended, the numbers were 47.8% to 25.4% in Romney's favor. All that being said, I expect that by the time they meet for the next debate on October 16, the media will have discovered enough problems with Romney's win to have convinced at least half the voters that that Obama had actually won.
Only time will tell, but it's no secret that I have thought this race was over before it began. That's why I am still upset with my fellow republicans who fell for the lie that only a moderate could beat Obama. I think any one of the Republican primary candidates would have done just as good against Obama, but we are stuck with Romney.
For those who are inclined to betting, two offshore gambling sites both have Obama losing ground. Pinnacle Sports, has Obama's at 73% odds of winning re-election, where as his chances were at 80% before the debate, that's a 7% drop. Intrade of Ireland has Obama's odds dropping to 66% for winning, down 12% from 78% before the debate. Finally, I wanted to share the video below of Sarah Palin's take on the debate with you. She almost felt sorry for Obama.
Air Time: 9:00-10:30 p.m. Eastern Time Location: Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York (Tickets) Sponsor: Commission on Presidential Debates Participants: President Barack Obama and Governor Mitt Romney Moderator: Candy Crowley (CNN Chief Political Correspondent) The second presidential debate will take the form of a town meeting, |

That's gonna be like watching the second half of a college football game after the team losing 45 - 0 gets their starting quartback knocked out of the game........You just pray they can at least gain a first down.
It’ll be like the 4th inning of yesterday’s A’s-Rangers game.
obama has had a free ride from the media and gop no one has called him on his lies until now obama didnt know what to do when called on his lies he’s never experienced it...he got pummeled and looked like the lying clown he is
I can’t wait for Ryan to hammer biteme ....he better be careful though people might see him as beating up on an old person...
That's absolutely right. He lost last night not out of some brilliant master strategy - he lost because he's an incompetent boob. However, I will say that he can only go up in the media's estimation. His awful performance last night gives his lapdogs in the media plenty of room to talk about his comeback in the next two debates.
Second time I've seen someone disparage that Freeper without giving him a courtesy ping to the comment. Has that become the new diss at Free Republic?
Obama hasn't shown up for work since day one of his presidency. No president has partied harder, golfed more, or vacationed so much on the public's dime. He can't properly debate the topics concerned with the job because he's mostly been playing hooky the last four years.
Obama is toast; his only options are to continue to take the beatings from Mitt and in turn, watch his residency come to its rightful end or to come up with an creative means to avoid further debate.
I've been waiting for Proverbs 16:18 to show Obama his karma. Given Obama's character and integrity......
things should get nasty from here on.
"Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for a royal dwelling by my mighty power and for the honor of my majesty?" Daniel 4:30-37God will not be mocked, and the Democrat party has set themselves up for something they are not even prepared to understand. That is why they and the media are so ignorantly believing their own cooked poll numbers.
"The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness. 2Thessalonians 2:9-12

English, R.I.P.
Dittos. I noticed the same thing.
I think the Chicago thugee is faking for Abigail come back.
The Chicago Thug doesn’t and never had the intelligence nor the wisdom to stand against anyone who knows what they are talking about. Without a teleprompter, a politician cannot cannot make up things on then fly they don’t believe in.
I am betting Obama will lose even worse next time. Have you ever beat someone at something you were told ahead of time that you did not have a chance to beat?
I have, and what happens is the next time you go against them, you actually smell blood. Romney did not just defeat Obama in a debate good enough, he decimated him.
I truly do not think Obama has ever been bitch-slapped like Romney did last night. It was the type of defeat that makes the loser actually question their own ability. That my friend, is something his handlers have protected him against throughout his short political.
Up until now, they always had his opponents defeated before they debated, and so his opponent was unable to fight, and that is what the last few weeks of cooked polling and negative media coverage was supposed to do to Romney. Someone forgot to tell Mitt he was supposed but rollover and quit like McCain and his other opponents in Illinois did.
It's hard not to watch events and remember our recent history and not be reminded of a sting operation or a crime spree.
The perp has crossed the line and attracted the attention of those in authority, only the kid doesn't know that and keeps on screwing up, building the case against him.
At some point, the damage is done and there is no turning back or stopping what's coming next. The wheels have begun to turn against him and once in motion, like a ship going over the waterfall, there's not a thing he can do to stop what's coming, only ride it out and hope to survive it.
Unfortunately, We, the People, are going over the falls with him. In this we truly are our brother's keepers, but not just for his sake, but for our own as well. What happens to the perp, happens to us all.
We need to undo some of our offenses, such as our legalizing infanticide, before it's too late to stop or moderate what's coming.
You’re too kind.
I agree we need to get unified and reverse some of if not all of “our offenses” as you put it.
Unfortunately, now that we know Roberts is a mugwump worried about bad press, I doubt we will succeed.
Truth is, I expect the Supreme Court to legalize same sex marriage by next December, and you can forget about ending America’s greatest sin infanticide.
Let us remember to keep Romney in our prayers that he will have the wisdom to lead this nation back to where it needs to get.
I also pray that God opens his eyes and mind to the truth about Mormonism. He can either be a tool of God and bring millions into the fold, or a tool for Satan by normalizing it. If the later, then he could open the door for hundred of millions more souls to be condemned to an eternal damnation.
I support him, because we elect a political leader, not a religious leader, but leaders do have influence on people moral and faith.
I heard someone at work say that he was beaten like a runaway slave!
That is an interesting take on why Lehrer kept interrupting Obama to move on, because he was trying to protect him from himself. Hmmm.
Liberal tears. The very sweetest of all tears. Mmm Mmm Mmm, Liberal tears!
That's a good point. Mitt handled the Middle East fiasco so much better than I was expecting. I have to admit I'm very much enjoying watching the liberals and their lap dogs in the media defend Obama today.
I've never understood why everyone just accepted that Mr. Uh Uh Uh was some great orator. I never saw it - even when speaking flawlessly from the TOTUS, he always struck me as an arrogant, condescending SOB. And without it, he was all um um um. Obviously, I wasn't the only one thinking that - my guess is that Jon Stewart heard it plenty and that's why he's so quick to jump on the possibility that all those um's back in 2008 were stupidity and not deep thought.
ON Fox they were discussing watching Obama for his typical body language showing he was frustrated, and how he had toned it down.
