Ha. The kind of plain stuff my husband and I eat, most of ‘em would turn up their noses at. Once this huge man and woman came into our store and took over the phone; called places complaining that they needed food - called churches, etc. I was alone and sorta scared. Fixed them up a bag with some canned tuna it it; the woman snorted that “they didn’t like tuna”. Oh well, I thought - I ate it. If it gets bad, the grubs and crawdads we’ll eat will gross them out.

The local forests will be empty of game in six weeks.

A lot of menstural pads make good dressings for nasty deep wounds...One trip to the drug store you can stock up on band aids, tape ace wraps etc...
To: old school
Actually I was referring to the quote from the article
For the last several years, our family, my husband Dan, our son Jesse and I, have been living what some may call the survivalist lifestyle.Actually, we live the off-grid (so far off the grid that there is no land line and no cell phone service available), self-sufficient life.
when I said I wonder what survival mom does about dentistry, medical emergencies, birth control, etc. My question was about her current "self sufficient" lifestyle I wonder what she currently does about these things. EG does she keep a bottle of Advil or two around the house, or does she use some infusion of herbs, etc.

If we have to resort to cannibalism .. . will vegans taste better? It's easier for humans to process corn when they feed it to the hogs, then eat the hogs.
Hogs will eat zombies also.

NO got back to normal because the 82d Abn,~25,000 Title 32 National Guardsmen, and untold volunteers put Humpty Dumpty back together again. Basically we robbed peter to fix up paul. Not a good model when peter is dead or worried about his own self.

Not to well on those, but you can buy penicillin at the tractor supply stores, but you got to get to the rural area’s for that, also sterile needles...When I was raising goats my refrigerator looked like it belonged in a doctors office. Tetrecycline, sulfa pills (called bolus) for animals...Use to order from a vets catalogue but could be bought in town. Cheaper to get it from a catalog...Same stuff the doctor gives you.....only he charges a small fortune for an injection...

>> “How well do they work on pneumonia, heart attacks and strokes?” <<
.
Simple:
Pnuemonia, chew peeled garlic three to four times per day. (way more effective than any antibiotic, and doesn’t destroy your immune system)
Heart attacke and strokes, take tincture of capsaicin in a little water, under the tongue. (this works equally well for those that are unconsious)
In most cases they will have no lingering effects from the attack. For strokes, retreatment hourly for several hours is beneficial.
Cayenne (capsaicin) is also excellent at stopping bleeding.

"I once heard someone say that he didnt have to fool with all this survivalist stuff. He said all he needed was a gun and a list of Mormons."
They are Mormons, not pacifist. Many are armed as well, but I hear you. Ive posted this a number of times, but here it is again:
I myself have posted warning about those I call Ive got lots of guns and plenty of ammo and Ill just take what I need. and the I dont prep because I dont believe anything is going to happen, but if it does preppers should share with me. types.
Anyone reading these peoples post can easily pick-up the anger in many of them and you will see that its not just the Libs that are shocked and infuriated by preppers. Now some the Ill take what I want crowd when confronted will often back off saying things like I was just joking, but I dont believe it. When I read their post I cant help but think of this quote from one of my favorite westerns Open Range: Most times a man will tell you his bad intentions if you listen, let yourself hear. Ive heard their intentions and they arent good.
The third type that I warn about are those who wish to bring Gods Armageddon into the discussion as if they know that it will be Gods will should some catastrophe befall us. They claim this despite the fact that the history of man is full of direr times which were caused by nature or man himself. History has shown us all too well that men do not need God to help them muck things up to a point were their fellows cry out for God to end it all and relieve them of their misery.
There will be many in this its Gods will crowd who will want to see you punished as they will see your prepping as you trying to dodging Gods punishment. This group along with the I dont prep, but you should share group will be among the first to report you and your hoarding to the powers that be in their efforts to make sure you too suffer just as they do. The first group because as I said they see you as trying to escape the rightful wrath of God (as if they know the Lords mind) and the second because you proved them wrong.
You can be fairly certain that all three groups will hate you as they will be quick to blame you for the troubles because in their twisted way of thinking your prepping brought the troubles and therefore you need to be punished for your transgression.
As the article points out you need to keep in mind that OPSEC is not just for your Lib neighbors many people that you may think of as being conservative thinkers will be just as dangerous.
We have talked a lot about safety in numbers and that is so true, just remember that not all enemies sail under their true colors.
Beware these people, listen to their words carefully and Listen, let yourself hear. what they are saying.

Maybe the biggest myth is that preparing for when TSHTF costs money.
It saves money: Buying in bulk when prices are low. Everybody used to do that, it’s just good sense.

My point is that disasters end. Hurricanes, earthquakes, riots eventually end so you don’t have to raise your own food, kill the local wildlife, or eat your neighbors. You need enough supplies for a reasonable time frame even supposing that the disaster is so widespread that you resupply by getting in your vehicle

Faraday cages will work well if they are grounded.
Cookie tins will protect small items that are in storage effectively. Garbage cans (steel with lids) good for larger stuff, like in the garage or shed. Grounding will make them more effective.
