(Now for some lighter side fun.)
28 Days Later. Resident Evil. Land of the Dead. Deadgirl. Army of Darkness. The Walking Dead. Fido. Dead Snow. Planet Terror. Evil Dead 2. Dawn of the Dead. Zombieland. Shaun of the Dead the list just goes on and on. Everybody seems to LOVE zombie films but why? What exactly is so intriguing to people about the idea of being stalked by dead people who want to eat their brains after a worldwide apocalypse? Simple: zombie movies cater to a whole range of deeply rooted human desires. It may be an apocalypse for the world, but for the moviegoer picturing himself in the middle of it all, its finally his chance to shine.
1) You can plausibly be the hero. The problem with most action flicks is that the average person has trouble picturing himself as the hero. He doesnt have special training or powers. Hes not a CIA operative, a Navy SEAL, a gunfighter, or a mutant. So the idea of taking on a gang of Die Hard-style terrorists or fighting with a sword against the medieval equivalent of Chuck Liddell in a film like Gladiator is completely outside of his reality.
On the other hand, zombies are most often portrayed as extremely slow and stupid, yet still dangerous. That makes zombies an enemy that the average restaurant manager or accountant feels like he could realistically handle. Every man, in his heart, wants to be a hero. He wants to be John Wayne, he wants to be Rambo, he wants to be Bruce Lee. In a world filled with zombies, thats an achievable goal.

The only question I have is, if this is something that "everyone" has (like a virus), then how did "everyone" get it? Was our government experimenting with something that went drastically wrong? Or, was this a chemical warfare type of thing that was released by terrorists on our soil?
Yep, looking forward to it. The “Governor” arrives.
So what is the best way to fight ‘rage’ zombies? (If you can’t outrun them, that is.)
I agree - a character driven show that just happens to involve zombies.
The same show could be Roman citizens fleeing the barbarian hordes that they cannot communicate with and only want to kill them; fleeing towards Rome - only to find that Rome has fallen, people giving up hope, others determined to go on - some willing to do anything to survive - others determined to hold onto civilization.
I love zombie movies too but the high speed ones do stretch my use of Coleridge’s suspension of disbelief. Only fresh zombies could produce such speed but only in a very limited burst. Older high speed zombies would run out of their skin and muscles and fall apart.
Short Range;
Close Range:
Wear protection against blood spatter...!
But of course there is the "Ripley Method"
I like flamethrowers.
Good point. Which raises the question, would zombies be a temporary threat? In other words, would they eventually just disintegrate? I believe so.
That’s one glaring plot hole I have to ignore. Just thinking about how fast the skin and muscle around the jaw decomposes compared to the rest of the body would make all of them useless within a matter of days at most. About all they could do would be slow slam dances.
Yep.
Please ping me on the zombie threads! Thanks.
You’re on. Thank you.
Ha ha ha. (Cynical dry laughter!) It is all well and good for you guys.
Where in the world does a private citizen living in a Bearded Marxist state get my hands on those more exotic toys?
When Zombie Apocalypse breaks out, I don’t want someones knocking on my door “We are from the gubbmint,.....”
You get them from your local National Guard Armory, just like the rest of us...
We’ll have to figure out the source ahead of time, because when the gubmint guys come knocking, having the flamethrowers on hand will help.
Just kidding, gubmint FR monitors!
Geez, I hope that’s not how “The Walking Dead” eventually ends. What an anti-climax, LOL.
