Good point. Which raises the question, would zombies be a temporary threat? In other words, would they eventually just disintegrate? I believe so.

That’s one glaring plot hole I have to ignore. Just thinking about how fast the skin and muscle around the jaw decomposes compared to the rest of the body would make all of them useless within a matter of days at most. About all they could do would be slow slam dances.

I wish that were true, but I tend to believe otherwise. To me the key fact is that zombies feed. If they were nothing more than a walking bag of flesh, I agree they'd eventually rot away.
However something drives them to feed on human flesh. I believe that same driving instinct is one that could also lend to processes for preserving zombie skin and muscles.
A zombie that is unable to feed, in my opinion, would eventually rot away. So I guess they would eventually all die out as you suggest, but it probably wouldn't occur until most of us were gone.
