July 4th--now more like a 'Memorial Day'
FReeper | 4.4.12 | tflabo

Posted on 07/04/2012 12:09:04 PM PDT by tflabo

Happy July 4th. Feels more like a memorial day to celebrate who and what the founders were and their bravery in creating the Declaration. Lets celebrate their memory, sacrificial contributions and their patriotic greatness in the birth of the nation. Currently, what is there to celebrate for modern America on July 4th? A nation that seems hellbent on turning its back on God, Bible, Constitution and plain old common sense. We celebrate our founders as a Memorial but now modern America deserves scorn and contempt--not celebration of the current tyrrany here on July 4th.

Sorry FReeps I dont feel like celebrating July 4th today. I fly the flags to honor the patriots past, present and future. As for this modern, tyrranical, ungodly, oppressive Govt we now have, there aren't enough middle finger salutes to present the the drecks of DC to do justice__(save for a few scant patriots there heeding the call). Please add in your comments in the spirit of your blood bought total freedoms.

“Currently, what is there to celebrate for modern America on July 4th?”

It is up to us to give modern America something to celebrate. We are still here and we are working. I am sure that some of our greatest patriots had dark times when there seemed little to celebrate. But we only lose when we quit.

” But what do we mean by the American Revolution? Do we mean the American war? The Revolution was effected before the war commenced. The Revolution was in the minds and hearts of the people; a change in their religious sentiments of their duties and obligations.”

“This radical change in the principles, opinions, sentiments, and affections of the people, was the real American Revolution.” —John Adams

I am celebrating that I have 4 grandchildren who, on their own, got up and made star-shaped red, white and blue pancakes for breakfast. They have all chosen red, white and blue clothing for today. They will salute our precious flag and they will thank God for this day. We will sing a few patriotic songs and shoot off fireworks after we eat from the plenty of our land.

America may be coming close to peril but despair will get us nowhere. And besides...what other country would you choose?

I have felt that way myself. After the Obama regime seized power, the sense of something ineffable but powerful being lost. I first noticed it when my feelings for the flag seemed to have changed.

If almost 70 million Americans can vote for this wretched usurper, then this isn't the America the founding fathers intended. As for the government, it would be recognizable to the Founders--as exactly what they had hoped to avoid but feared would eventually prevail.

Now, I celebrate the America’s past. Can’t really seem to celebrate Her future.

If there was ever a period in our collective lifetimes to hold true and fast to God, Bible and the US Constitution then this is that era. Unlike our feckless and spineless drecks parading as leaders in DC, we must not waiver nor steer off course of the true Light and Truth bequeathed to us. Eternity is watching and will record our doings— lets stand firm in the face of danger and the ungodly of this current age. Now thats something to celebrate and forever!

I too am in a somber mood.
I have 20 guests arriving soon.
The preparations are done, the flay always flies here, but after the blow we took last week, added to the previous 3 years.....well....

We will continue the fight and never give up.

By this time next year, I anticipate a joyous 4th of July with what’s-his-name out of our country, perhaps taking Michelle Antoinette shopping in France where they’d be more comfortable....rambling, sorry....

Hang in there. America is full of patriots who will do the right thing. We must kick Hussein out, keep the senate and take the house, and hold them all accountable. We must win, win, win. We must make them no more than a pesky gnat that bothers but does not bite.

Cheers

ObamaCare was the modern day Stamp Act, the last straw.

Who will be our Patrick Henry?

I heard Lee Greenwood’s God Bless the USA on the radio today and I have always loved that song. Now every time I hear it I just think about the freedoms we have given up in this country and it’s just sad.

The Stamp Act was passed by the British Parliament on March 22, 1765. The new tax was imposed on all American colonists and required them to pay a tax on every piece of printed paper they used.

The actual cost of the Stamp Act was relatively small. What made the law so offensive to the colonists was not so much its immediate cost but the standard it seemed to set. In the past, taxes and duties on colonial trade had always been viewed as measures to regulate commerce, not to raise money. The Stamp Act, however, was viewed as a direct attempt by England to raise money in the colonies without the approval of the colonial legislatures. If this new tax were allowed to pass without resistance, the colonists reasoned, the door would be open for far more troublesome taxation in the future....... excerpts from weblink

If I could get one of the colonial flags I’d fly it.

But the Country of the Fifty Stars has made a mockery of itself.

Also it was doggone meddlesome, giving the English an excuse to scrutinize every single document you had (to be sure it had the stamp, of cou-ourse). Has ANY modern country tried to do something THAT intrusive? The tax was little as a monetary matter. The idea was the intrusion.

I’m public school educated and I’m not sure what the 4th of July is all about. I think it’s about gay rights or feminists rights, or somethin’ like that. . .
