Madison, Wisc. Don't be surprised if members of the traditional, mainstream media claim a union victory even if Gov. Scott Walker wins the recall vote underway today.
That's the buzz among well-placed Republican sources here who are hopeful that polling leading to the election is an indicator that Gov. Walker will prevail. However, they caution that it is likely the Democrats will win control of the Wisconsin Senate.
Democrats need to win just one of the four Senate recall elections taking place in the state to regain control of the Senate. It's believed they have a better than even chance in one race and a 50-50 chance in another.
If the Democrats win control of the Senate, some in the mainstream media are likely to call the election a draw or possibly even a union win, which is a message the unions also will promote. But this verdict would be off base.
If Walker stays in office, the victory isn't likely to do the Democrats any good.
Wisconsin's legislature has adjourned for the year and the Senate cannot return to session unless the Republican-controlled Assembly agrees to do so or the governor calls them back.
Half of the Senate faces the voters in November. It's expected that the Republicans will pick up at least two Senate seats at that time. By November the new legislative districts will be in use. These were drawn by the majority Republicans in 2011 and are tilted in the GOP's favor.
Don’t ruin my day. Walker will win, Kleefisch will win, and the Senators will prevail, may God hear my prayer.
The Unions will declare it a victory if the sun comes up on Wednesday.
This is wishful thinking. Union membership in WI has already dropped by half. And even if the democrats take over the senate in today’s recall, there’s another election in November and it’s likely the republicans will have it right back.
The stranglehold that the unions have held on the old northwest states is finally being broken! Tonight will be fun!
Let’s hope, then, that Republicans even win those Senate races. Besides, the focus of the entire contest has been to boot Walker.

Lol! The money lines! It would almost be worth it to see the democrats take control of the Senate, then realize that they haven't actually won anything because there will be another election which the Republicans will most likely win before the Senate is back in session.
From your mouth to God's ear
Pray that it is so.
At Scott Walkers’ victory speech he should rub it in. A love child? Bring him/her forward and that of Jesse Jackson/John Edwards. Recount? Bring up Al Gore’s shameful Fla. recount. Last? Give the man in the WH a ‘fair’ warning: He needs to disclose his college transcripts.
Not only is there another election in November, but the legislature is out of session until January.
Thats the dems for ya, get their arses kicked, then declare victory and skedaddle.
WI FReepers, weren’t the recent poll numbers favorable to Lt Gov. Kleefisch and Senate (R) candidates?
If Walker wins, then I would think the same people who voted for him, epso facto, would vote for the GOP senators.
More importantly, in November the Voter ID requirement will be in effect, and vote fraud will be a bit harder. The most important part is to keep Gov Walker, because the effectiveness of Voter ID depends on state willingness to enforce.
I knew this race was over a week ago, when some dingbat Democratic strategist was on CNN, patiently explaining to the less-nuanced brains out there in television land how a possible Walker victory could be looked at as a big win for Obama.
Probably asked to stay away.
And the "real" polls, the internals, that Captain Thingamajig sees everyday said, "If you thought Ohio State was a disaster, you don't want to go Wisconsin."
Reminds me of when the Israelis beat Hell out of the Palestinians in Lebanon, but let them escape. As the Palis lined up around the rescue ships, they were firing their AK-47s in the air as a sign of victory. These people are all cut from the same bolt of cloth.
