The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms is inviting public comments on its new rule regarding shotguns. It plans to ban them.
There will be a ban on imports. (Note: watch prices rise on those already in the USA.)
The basis of this ban will be the guns semi-automatic status. It the magazine has more than five rounds, the weapon will be banned.
Why? Because the BATF designates these as military.
Somehow, I cannot see Sergeant York with a 7-round shotgun taking on the Germans.
Gen. George Patton wore ivory-handled revolvers. I wonder if these are scheduled for a ban.
The guns must be used in sport, only.
Yet there are shooting competitions involving held by national shooting clubs.
Dudley Brown, Executive Director of Rocky Mountain Gun Owners, said if the ATF succeeds with the banning of tactical shotguns it will be the most dangerous interpretation of the 1968 Gun Control Act ever envisioned and will outlaw thousands of perfectly legitimate home defense shotguns.
If you want to comment on the proposed ban, send an email to shotgunstudy@atf.gov
And it will pass, there’s no doubt about that. Nobody will step up to defeat it.

I told yall to get the Saiga 12 when they were $350 and the MD arms drum when it was $75.
Luckily, this rule will not hinder the ability of the ATF to sell high-cap shotguns to Mexican drug cartels. /s
What's the story on this?
Ban the BATF.
The funding for this has been removed from the budget.
What’s the meaning? It’s another NRA appeal for money.
From my cold dead hands they are getting my Model 12s.
Gotta love Model 12’s. Have a 16 gauge from 1938, and a bandoleer of mixed #1 Buck and Slug from Federal I call my “Purple People Eaters”.
2DV,
I think there was a thread yesterday or the day before, that concluded that this was from April of last year, and that it was “shot” down.
Actually, I own a Winchester 98. 1898, that is. It is a 7 round shotgun that took on the Germans in the trenches of WWI. I like it since it doesn't show up in too many BATF records, and it still throws quite a punch.
“Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms (ATF) should be a convenience store, and not a gov’t agency.”
BATFE won’t like what happens if they do move forward with this. The end result will be a significant loss of ability of the BATFE to conduct interpretation of existing laws.
Hey BATFE, you guys really should listen to Len before it’s too late. But by all means, keep it up and give us standing. We won’t mind destroying you in court.
The problem is that while they accepted public comment in 2011, should Obama be re elected they wont take comment.
I still have my dad’s Model 12 16 gauge with a poly choke he bought new when he turned 14 in 1950.
Attitudes back then about firearms were so much different. How did we all survive?
