“Let the police handle it.”

Your neighborhood has obviously not been victimized by a spate of robberies. Ours was several years ago and the neighbors got together. Nary a stranger walks by now without one of the neighbors engaging in a friendly get to know you chat and the tags of strange vehicles are always jotted down. Funny thing—no burglaries for the last three years. Oh, and did I mention that the average response time by police has been somewhere between 40 min. and an hour? “Aint nobody watchin’ out for us but us.

Your point well taken here.

I concede that the time differential is extreme in your case. I know when I was security at a large mall, the police took always at least 20 minutes. I learned later through the grapevine, the local gendarmes would deliberately wait, cos the matter had then died down nine times out of ten. (I can still laugh).

When Seconds Count, the police are only Minutes Away. Most of the time they are there to bag’n’tag the body and to write up a crime scene report, about which nothing usually is successfully concluded - unless, of course, it is a poweratti-connected victim.
