Santorum Suggests Obama Beats an *Etch A Sketch* Candidate

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Rick Santorum played off of the Mitt Romney campaign’s Etch A Sketch gaffe today when he told an audience that the country might be better off with President Obama than with a candidate who will shift his positions with ease and who he believes is not very different from the president.

“You win by giving people a choice. You win by giving people the opportunity to see a different vision for our country, not someone who’s just going to be a little different than the person in there. If you’re going to be a little different, we might as well stay with what we have instead of taking a risk with what may be the Etch A Sketch candidate of the future,” Santorum told a crowd at USAA.

During a press avail following the event, Santorum, who carried the Etch A Sketch during his speech, argued that Romney knows he can’t win in the general election.

“All the things that allow Romney to win the primary are unavailable to him to win the general and that’s why you see these Etch A Sketch comments because he knows he can’t win,” said Santorum.

As he spoke to a crowd which included people standing on other levels peering over the ledge to hear him, Santorum stressed the weight the Texas primary will carry on the overall race, saying the race will continue through Texas, whose large delegate count of 155 offers him the “opportunity to reset this race.”

Bears repeating ... in bold ...

“If we must have an enemy at the head of Government, let it be one whom we can oppose, and for whom we are not responsible, who will not involve our party in the disgrace of his foolish and bad measures.” - Alexander Hamilton

Thank you for such an apropos reminder from a true patriot.

The quote could be applied to any candidate.

Anyone who suggests that Obama may be preferable is execrable and treasonous.

If you want to teach a lesson through the reelection of Obama your students are not listening. They are struggling to prevent the destruction of this country while you sit back and assume a lofty and righteous (and worthless and destructive) position.

Though I disagree, I accept your point of view. You may even be correct, which would explain the contested convention that seems imminent. If all our candidates are so equally tainted as you feel, then Santorum's statement is accurate. Obama will beat Romney in the general election and, as Alexander Hamilton encouraged, we will have an enemy at the head of government whom we can oppose and will not involve our party in his disgrace.

“I intend to vote for Romney.”

Lemme know how that works out for ya, billva, after Romney throws Conservatives under the bus.

It certainly can't work out any worse than voting for a guy who can't get nominated, if nominated can't win and who would rather ruin the chances of someone who could.

Stick with Santorum if you want but he's a loser. Let me know how that works out.

Santorum isn’t a loser. He is a good candidate.

But it’s hard to contend with an unscrupulous Rino who outspends one by 21 to 1. (Chicago).

Let me clarify my loser remark. He's a loser in this contest and runs the risk of ruining his future if he sticks to long.

As far as the money goes, Romney is better organized, raises more money and of course has plenty of the $$$$ commodity himself.

Santorum could have a bright future but screw it up by staying to long.
