On Friday's Inside Washington on selected PBS stations, Charles Krauthammer floated his curiosity about what would happen if the Republicans chose a new candidate for the fall election if Romney or Santorum couldn't get to the magic delegate number. Mark Shields joked about how it would be unfair to pick to someone who hasn't slogged across the country and then made a fat joke: "Chris Christie, have a little ice cream, and come in."
There goes svelte Shields again. NPR reporter Nina Totenberg promised the elite media would savage a new Republican candidate and pick apart everything "he" has ever done or said (no females are apparently allowed in this exercise):
TOTENBERG: The elite media will then glom onto this person, and everything he has ever done that might be slightly untoward or controversial will come out. [Italics mine, emphasis hers.] And he will never have had this kind of glare on him, and he will make gaffes. You've seen this all through the primary campaign. Everybody's made gaffes. You have to get used to that. You have to grow into the job of being a national candidate. There's no time to do that.
She wasn't buying Krauthammer's thesis that a new choice might be "electric." Experience shows this could well be the case if one considers the savage media reaction to two recent vice-presidential surprise picks: Dan Quayle in 1988 and Sarah Palin in 2008. Both received exactly what Totenberg described.
NPR reporter Nina Totenberg promised the elite media would savage a new Republican candidate and pick apart everything "he" has ever done or said...Wow, what a revelation.
They're completely out in the open with their commie agenda. They figure that there's nothing we can do about their takeover of
our country. They've had enough years running our schools and teaching the children how wonderful communism is and how the
evil conservatives are out to kill their buzz and take away all their fun and kill their friends and homosexuals and bankrupt the
country and legislate morality!!!
The people coming our of our schools today are not Americans. They hate America and patriots and conservatives. It's all they
know, for it's all they've been taught.
Occupotty members are in charge, and we're headed for the toilet.

While Bush's DUI undoubtedly hurt him somewhat in 2000, it did so only because his campaign adviser was analytically dysfunctional. Had he arranged for an election eve speech, before the final media gambit, you refer to, Bush could have had the largest TV audience in history, to perk up his numbers. (See Karl Rove--Dysron, Quack of Mole.) In other words, properly handled, the last minute smear was a wonderful opportunity.

Occupy’s lame. If they weren’t propped up by dem trolls and funded by elites, they wouldn’t exist.
Occupy ADVERTISES for people on CraigsList... They’re as grassroots as Soros’s maids and cleaning crew. Even their trolls here are paid.
It's a con - a con by democrats to give the illusion the young are with them. They aren't. Not unless their paid...
As far as trolls go - it's the same. Hitler used to pay people to attend meetings where people were condemning his party - he wanted it to look like everyday citizens were outnumbered.
I'm sure each one of those trolls had an excuse for being a paid liar - but history proved otherwise. Liars and cheats are liars and cheats. Period.
Here’s a link to folks who exhibit out-of-control arrogance. It’s not attractive. It’s why dems like to create the look of a ‘movement’ even when it’s rent-a-crowd. Illusions work in the short run. Men like this think millions support them. They’re wrong.
