Santorum: There Will Be No One Stronger on Judges Than I Am

by Lacey Halpern March 11, 2012

Former Senator Rick Santorum (R) says if he is elected, he will take judicial appointments very seriously and he'll "have a litmus test that they should follow the Constitution."

"There will be no one stronger on judges than I am," said Santorum Sunday on Fox News. He touted his work in Congress to help push President George W. Bush's judicial appointments through as evidence.

"We took the battle to the Democrats when they were going to shut them down and they had in the past. When I was in that leadership, I said, we're not going to do that anymore. We're going to have all night filibusters, we're going to try to break them (Democrats)," added Santorum.

Many have criticized Santorum for his endorsement of then moderate Republican Senator Arlen Specter. But Santorum says that was a quid-quo-deal. Santorum said he agreed to endorse Specter in exchange for Specter voting in favor of President George W. Bush's conservative judicial nominees in 2004.

We need a list of Romney’s judicial appointees to investigate. I know the Boston Globe says that 3/4 of Romney’s judicial appointees were liberals.

Of all things Santorum has said, I believe him MOST on this out of EVERYTHING else. He is very principled and he will NEVER put a mushy moderate on the highest court.

per the Green Papers, Santorum now officially leads Gingrich on BOTH the HARD and SOFT delegate counts.

Soft delegate count:
Romney 435,
Santorum 197,
Romney’s Stalking Horse 128,
Romney’s stooge 74,
Uncommitted 5.
Needed to nominate 1,144.

Hard delegate count:
Romney 354,
Santorum 131,
Romney’s Stalking Horse: 107,
Uncommitted 73,
Romney’s Stooge 23,
Romney’s Cousin 2.
Needed to nominate 1,144.

And for all those “wait til Tuesday from the Romney Stalking Horse supporters”, based on the projected delegate allocations from MS/AL, Rick will still be in 2nd. And there won’t be anymore HARD delegates in the South until May when NC, KY, AR, WV, and TX actually allocate delegates. So Rick is at least 2nd for Good.

You are pretty gullible, then!!! Check out little Ricky's vote for Obama's choice for our Supreme Court!

He'll fold every time it's of personal benefit to him in order to 'go along to get along'.

You had better check his voting record. If you had done that - you would know that he voted FOR OBAMA'S CHOICE.

You bet. He’s attacked the liberal judiciary from the day he first became a senator for PA and when the SC struck down the partial-birth ban in PA, he helped Congress pass a new law which the SC upheld. He hates liberal judges with every fiber in his body.

In fairness, Gingrich shares the same view.

I believe Santorum would appoint only conservative Judges.

Unfortunately, that will be insufficient.

The larger problem is the virus of leftist judges that currently infect our republic.

Newt will encourage Congress to curb the courts as per Article III. The Framers did not create a judiciary superior to the other branches. Federal judges may be in for a HUGE surprise when Congress votes to disestablish their jurisdictions. No impeachment necessary. Bye, bye Ninth Circus.

We need more than 60 filibuster-proof senators for this to occur.

“So Rick is at least 2nd for Good.”

Well, all Santorum has ever wanted was to be Romney’s 2nd, I mean Vice President. Maybe Santorum should quit now that he has that sewn up.

Well considering that Santorum has not been in office during the entire term of Obama, I guess you are just lying. Are you talking Sodermyer or whatever her name was? That was done by President Clinton when he was President and according to Santorum, the President gets to pick who he wants on the court....Very true statement which he will take advantage of when he is President.

aw, boo-hoo loser. I’m sorry you think voters are too stupid to realize the genius that is Newt.

Santorum IS a conservative and by-far, the strongest Anti-Romney remaining. Anyone who says otherwise, like yourself, is a moron.

At this stage of the game, if your not on board with Santorum, you are for Romney. Simple Math prooves it. When you can logically counter that with some kind of comprehensible argument built on facts and evidence, talk to me. Otherwise, FReep off.

CORRECTION

ROMNEY STRATEGY:

ROMNEY TRASHES AND BURNS FELLOW CANDIDATES
HAVE ROMNEY SUPPORTERS TRASH RICK AND NEWT
HAVE ROMNEY SUPPORTERS TRASH RICK AND NEWT SUPPORTERS
ASK RICK AND NEWT SUPPORTERS TO VOTE FOR ROMNEY

NEWT STRATEGY:

HAVE NEWT SUPPORTERS TRASH RICK
HAVE NEWT SUPPORTERS TRASH RICK SUPPORTERS
ASK RICK SUPPORTERS TO VOTE FOR NEWT

Most of Rick supporter said they would vote Newt if Rick did not get in, but we have Newt supporters saying they would NEVER vote for Rick. Rick is nothing like romney or obama. He has LESS baggage than Newt, yet we are suppose to go with Newt. Maybe we should say no romney no newt.

“if your not on board with Santorum, you are for Romney”

I will vote for anyone other than Obama. Having said that, I do not believe that Santorum is a fiscal conservative, or not as much as I would like. The thing that I like about Newt is that he has done it before. He has balanced the budget before. He has reformed large out of control spending programs before (welfare). He has organized and won large national campaigns around big ideas before (Contract with America). After riding on Gingrich’s coat tails in the 1990’s House, Santorum was one of the ones that stabbed Newt in the back and ultimately squandered all those gains over the subsquent years. If Romney wins, expect Santorum to be his running mate and remember I told you so, especially if Romeny does not have 1144 delegates come time of the convention. If you really want to stop Romney, you should be voting for Newt.

I agree completely. Santorum is this cycle's Duncan Hunter - a pipe dream with no chance whatsoever. Obama is more vulnerable than the MSM will admit, but I just can't see Santorum exploiting that vulnerability.

He voted for Sonia Sotomayor for Circuit Judge.

Is that what we’re calling conservative these days?

I like Newt more than Rick, but I agree with you-—Rick would definitely appoint conservative judges.

He was voting with Arlen Specter, Olympia Snowe, Susan Collins, Lincoln Chaffee, and Jim Jeffords.

You know, the "team".

I can’t imagine why anyone thinks Rick Santorum can win in the general election. He might have a glimmer of a chance if he could just keep his mouth shut.
