Sleep Train begs Rush Limbaugh: Take us back; Limbaugh: Request denied
Examiner ^ | 03-09-2012 | Joe Newby

Sleep Train, one of the companies that dropped its ads from Rush Limbaugh's radio program after Limbaugh called Sandra Fluke a "slut" and a "prostitute," asked Limbaugh for another chance.

But Limbaugh denied the company's request.

(snip)

The Times added that Limbaugh spokesman Brian Glicklich forwarded an email he said had been sent to Sleep Train President Dale Carlsen. According to that email, Limbaugh himself considered the company's request and denied it.

“Thank you for your requests last week and this week to restart your voiced endorsement in local markets of The Rush Limbaugh Show,” the email began. “Rush received your requests personally.”

“Unfortunately," the email continues, "your public comments were not well received by our audience, and did not accurately portray either Rush Limbaugh's character or the intent of his remarks. Thus, we regret to inform you that Rush will be unable to endorse Sleep Train in the future.”

Not that I’d want to let the facts get in the way of this little fest, but apparently no one has bothered to view Carbonite’s stock performance for the past quarter. It has been in steep, steady decline since before the beginning of this year, and was down ~23% from it’s value at the beginning of the year even before the company announced that it was pulling it’s ads from Limbaugh’s show.

This is just a continuation of that trend.

"I must humbly disagree with El Rushbo... ...it’s Rush’s show. He does what he wants. People think Rush has a boss. His only boss are advertisers. Rush just denied his boss AND made himself a hero, once again, with his listeners. What an excellent example of the free market!"

Actually, I'd say Rush is his own boss. He has a product/service...whatever you want to call it... that attracts a wide audience. Smart advertisers and companies, unlike Sleep Train, know this... which is why Rush can pretty much pick and choose his advertisers. Advertisers can "fire" Rush, or choose not to advertise, just as Rush can "decline" advertisers. In Rush's situation, as in any good business situation, it has to be a mutually beneficial. One of the beauties of capitalism.

Rush Limbaugh blues, you made me cry.
I don’t want to lose this business.
And if I could choose a way to die
It wouldn’t be by suicide.

[Chorus:]
Do you want to see me crawl across the floor to you?
Do you want to hear me beg you to take me back?
I’d gladly do it because
I don’t want to fade away.
Give me one more chance, please.
I don’t want to fade away.
On your show I want to stay.

It’s all wrong, but it’s all right.
The way that I treated you, Rush.
Once I was strong but I lost the fight.
You won’t find a bigger loser.

[Chorus: x2]

Rush Limbaugh blues, don’t say goodbye.
I’m certain we won’t meet again,
And if we do, don’t be surprised
If you find me out of business.

[Chorus]

I don’t want to fade away.
Give me one more chance please.
I don’t want to fade away.
On your show I want to stay.
