An up and down night. Each one of the candidates tried their best attacks and both Santorum and Romney were on the defensive at least some of the night. Who won?
cometh the hour, cometh the man....Newt Gingrich.
Amen to that!
Fox will be covering it all evening with commentary and highlights.
Newt gave the most concise answers so I would have to say He won. He surely looks and acts presidential.
“By the end, he was parrying with omney and not only holding his own, but winning. I think he won the earmark scuffle, along with endorsement of Specter. His arguing that Romneycare is on many aspects, to the left of Obamacare was pretty damning in my opinion...”
I agree with that assessment. And I thought Romney blaming Santorum for Obamacare because he endorsed Specter smacked of desperation. Here we have the guy who’s health care plan was the model for Obamacare blaming someone’s ENDORSEMENT for its implementation? I can’t see any clear thinking person buying that argument.
Newt did very well tonight. He stayed above the fray for sure. Energy is a good discussion to be in right now too. I want Santorum to win Michigan and Arizona to knock Romney out.
Tonight I could see Newt having a serious conversation with a camera and the nation listening, watching. Not a dry podium speech.
I guess I would like someone to explain their actions that way.
Just a chat with the plan to move forward. Funny I never thought that before, or about him.
One word to describe Romney: NERD
Exactly! When it comes down to the Romneycare/Obamacare argument, Romney will lose every time. Rick is right, we can’t afford to give up that issue in the general election. Newt and Rick both can stick it to Obama on Obamacare, Romney simply can’t.
I missed the debate, took my mom out to eat for her birthday. I am very glad to hear that newt had a good night, I hope he is able to get out in front again.
Looks like the Paulbots have not found this poll yet. Newt clearly won by sitting back and letting Rick and Mitt play Yes you did, no I didn’t. Newt was the only candidate on the stage with a clear plan to move the country forward.
Totally agree with you. Newt looked presidential while the others not so much.
Newt was terrific. I thought Santorum did well too, considering that he had to sit between Paul and Mittens.
But CNN’s Ari F. and many other pundits are lambasting Rick for having missed his chance tonight..and praising Mittens for his terrific performance..
Were we watching the same debate?
And do you know that the Mittbots stacked the room? that’s why there was so much + audience response to him.
The audience was stacked to the gills with Romney shills.
Unfair. Whatever Romney said, even the stupidest things, the audience would always erupt in what sounded like laughtrack applause. The audience seemed to be favoring Newt also, as a Newt rise at the expense of Santorum, at this point, will help Romney.
Amen.
I though it was a good answer because it cut through the rank hypocrisy of pretending these gang press conferences are a "debate."
Still won't make me vote for him though. Gingrich still heads and shoulders above the others.
I AGREE..he came across as snarky as 0bama is..big reason I don’t like him..he has a holier than thou thing about him. I thought Newt did very well tonight and while Romney was trying to beat up Santorum, Newt just sat back and let them go at it..Newt was the statesman tonight.
That question was so stupid to begin with and I think he should have just waved it off somehow.
Yes, Newt was pointing out Obama’s failures and Newt also suggested his solutions for the “disaster” Obama has got us in.
I also like how he side stepped not putting down another candidate and..... he got another swipe at the media. Good job Newt!
I think Newt won but my problem with that is, Newt’s won other debates and lost. And he got so vicious after IA & FL, so which Newt would we get in the election?
Santorum was, as he likes to say, consistent. He didn’t back down when Mittens shouted, just shouted back. So I think he did as well as a frontrunner has done to date.
Romney didn’t offer anything new. Much not be much new material to steal from the others.
