My greatest apprehension with a brokered convention is that The Party of Stupid will decide to go with Jeb Bush.
Bush fatigue is still rampant. A Jeb nomination would guarantee another 4 years of Obama, and what would give Obama more pleasure to run against? A Bush.
I feel like we’re card players who have been dealt a dreadful round—RINO Establishment and conservatives alike—so we’re both ready to throw in our hand and ask the dealer for a new deal.
Won’t happen and anyone else chosen would also have defects.
In a brokered convention, Gingrich and Santorum combine their delegates, and flip a coin to see who heads the ticket. Paul gets Treasury.
The most likely outcome of a “brokered” convention would be the guy (of the 4 still running) who is still first after a couple of ballots would be nominated for president, and the guy who is second or third who puts the guy in first over the top would be the VP. They are not going to go for someone who comes in with no delegates.
My understanding is that Ron Paul’s campaign has installed a lot of his supporters as delegates.
The delegates are obligated to vote in accordance with their assigned candidate at the FIRST vote at the convention.
My understanding is that if there is no clear winner from the first vote that there will be a SECOND vote in which the delegates are free to vote for who they choose.
Ron Paul could win if this goes to a tie
