Gingrich is toast. He needs to get out and back Santorum. He does that and we rid ourselves of Romney.

And yeah, turnout in the GOP primaries/caucuses hasn’t been good.

This straw vote means nothing. No delegates. Can’t figure out what the big deal is.

Willard 2,190 39%

Ron Paul 1,996 36%

Ron Paul could easily beat Willie Mitty in VA if theres just the 2 of them...

Winning a straw poll is NOTHING compared to the losses Romney took this week...and the losses ahead for him, particularly in South. This race is far from over.

I support Santorum but Gingrich has better chances in the southern states and can help us strip some delegates away from Romney. Meanwhile here in Michigan I intend to help Santorum.

Bullsh!t...Santorum won't play well in the South. Rick's a nice guy, but he's a dork!

The message from this caucus is that Romney won by less than 200 votes! And you can bet that he had his missionaries going door-to-door...and packing all events! And how many millions did Romney spend for this THIN victory?

Actually, slight increase from 2008

Romney 2,837 51%
McCain 1,176 21%
Paul 1,002 18%
Huck 318 6%

Total Votes: 5,491.

As for delegates, I defer to the Green Papers
http://www.thegreenpapers.com/P12/ME-R

Give them an hour or so to update. With the 2 pledged Superdelegates, Romney will get around 11 or 12 Delegates. Paul will get 6 or 7, Santorum 2, and maybe 1 for Gingrich.

So what? Another NE state. And how many delegates? 1? 2? Pledged or unpledged?

Like his campaign blew off a three state sweep by Santorum, I’m doing the same here. No big deal.

I’m waiting for Michigan..Romney’s birth state. We have a long way to go until the convention. Pa. primary is in late April.

5,300 people voted in a state?

We had more people than that show up for two Santorum rallies in Oklahoma.

I’m somewhat disappointed with the number of Paul Voters. He couldn’t even win the primary when every conservatives in the gop are depressed and split with their own candidate

Newt isn’t competing to win the caucuses. He’s not “toast” because he’s not trying to win places he wouldn’t win.

This is a screwed up process there in Maine. First, only 5000 votes? Then, Charlie Webster came out and prefaced the whole thing with the warning that today’s results really don’t mean a thing. Actual delegates will apparently not be selected until yet more caucuses in May! Why can’t they just have an election and get it over with?

Unfortunately Santorum is a big-government, pro-union doofus.

Newt has a better chance of coming back a third time than Santorum does of holding on for a win.
