This morning, I want to talk about these armed parasites. Some time ago I picked up the book Urban Survival Guide by David Morris. On page 86 of the text, which is really a comprehensive twelve-week urban survival course, Morris wrote:
many peoples survival plan consists of buying just enough ammo to take whatever food they need by force. Just two weeks before writing this, I stood in a circle with eight active duty military talking about how quickly things were crumbling. When the conversation moved to preparations, I found myself listening to them mock families who stockpile food and detail their plans on how to liberate it if they ever need to.
Some of the comments were, If theyre dumb enough to buy food instead of guns, they dont deserve to live. and When it comes down to it, my family is more important than their family and Ill take what I need. and I dont have room to store a year of food, but I do have room for another case of .223.

Good idea when you have time BEFOREHAND. But, it would be a bitch trying to fight off the bad guys with one hand working the action of a Model 70 and the other pulling on a Pacific Press. LOL
Good suggestion ;^)
On my first trip to New Brunswick to check out some land I bought,
I was wondering if there were bear around.
As I crested the last hill before reaching the property,
I was treated to the sight of a bear in the middle of the road.
They are called “Occupy.”

Excellent point. At family gatherings we have discussed at length prepping and scenarios for survival. A lot of people I run into are contemplating bad things down the road. With guns sales through the roof the past few years, millions of citizens are quite aware that we will likely enter a dark period. More and more people are preparing, and that is a good thing.
So what martial art move does he use against a sniper that takes him out at 800 yards with a .338 lapua magnum?
Yeah, I know ... it was you ;-)
“Good idea when you have time BEFOREHAND.”
Isn’t that the point of being of being a prepper instead of a reactor?
Yep. Attrition is going to get them eventually. These aren’t all going to be dynamic entry SWAT raids. You might find yourself and your team being engaged from long range by multiple bogeys in organized units with comms, night vision, even thermal.
Our soldiers are used to excellent logistical and air support as well as superior weaponry. Only a small band of special ops groups are truly trained to operate on their own for a long period of time in the above mentioned situation.
The parasite route will be high risk and hit and miss. And there’s no rule that says they couldn’t follow you back to your lair and rip you a new a** too.
LOL! Very True!
I'm about 60 posts thru and there's a whole lot of naiveté on this thread.
You know who's going to do well in a SHTF situation? Young, single males. Fact is, our wives and children are liabilities. The young, single male is going to have the advantage of mobility and independence. He has nothing to lose and nobody depending on him. He only has to scavenge for himself. He can move quickly with little more than a rifle and a backpack.
People here claiming "Oh, we'll just band together in happy little groups and defend ourselves" will be in for a big surprise when they find themselves outnumbered by roving bands of young males who shoot the menfolk first, do Very Bad Things to their wives and daughters, take what they want and then quickly leave.
B-I-N-G-O, doc.
In a SHTF situation, what’s to keep the ChiComms from invading the US and taking over?
" I could hopscotch throughout the southeast and find hundreds of other such likely spots away from the more urban zones. "
Your reply: " That sailboat would be an easy target for someone standing behind a tree on shore. Just sayin'. "
The last part of my post you didn't read: " If it turns into a zombie-fest, I've always wanted to check out the Pacific..tools, seeds and chem fertilizer will go with me, and maybe even a couple breeding potbelly pigs. I'll go where people ain't and do my semiannual trading where they're few. That's the basic plan... "
When ya'll are figuring out your war games, I'll be in the Tuamotus. Have fun.
Thats the spirit, As for the military gangs most will be home trying to protect their own families from the roaming gangs of thugs .
There are 4 other little towns within a 10 mile radius of this one and every one of those towns has more little towns around them. We have personal and professional connections between these little towns and creating a cooperative defensive and trading network is almost and instinctive thing.
I resemble that remark.
Plus, it’s hard to steal my food supply. I’m assuming people won’t be quite ready to be cannibals.
Good golly, its been decades since I read Lucifers hammer...didn’t the same guys write....the mote in Gods eye....good sci fi books
On a relative basis, I'd much rather see my grandkids under that scenario than controlled by Muslims.
I'll throw out an answer. I'll say stealth and situational awareness. Once you've been actually living in the bush for a prolonged period of time, you start hearing a lot better and making a lot less noise. You know you're getting there if you walk right into a bunch of deer sleeping and they take off falling down over themselves. A second thing is situational awareness. There's a lot of half mystical practices in martial arts, I won't get in too deep, but there are practical exercises for getting for lack of a better term, "spidey sense". It won't beat a sniper, but it sure will tell you when to lay low.
If a sniper goes tiger hunting, the advantage is with the sniper...as long as the tiger doesn't know he's being hunted.
If the SHTF I’m going to eat the catfish out of the dirty river.
