I heretofore supported Santorum - but- made my decision and voted for Newt this morn.
Why? I have voted for every Republican since turning 18 in 1988 - BUT this time around, if Mitt Romney is the nominee, I will NOT debase my country or myself by voting for this sleeze.
For the past two months of being deluged by the underhanded commercials onto which Romney has attached his name, and after watching his sophomoric behavior at his rally in The Villages (Florida) yesterday - I can say emphatically that this is no gentleman and this is no statesman.
3rd party or independent conservative it will be if Mitt Romney is the GOP nominee.
Let me explain:

FOLKS, why is it that somebody who four years ago passionately tried to convince fellow FReepers to support Romney, is on here now urging us to support Santorum?
Because Santorum's staying in the race benefits Romney.
The true "values" voter will understand that a vote for Newt is the best way to eliminate the possibility of feeling compelled to vote for depraved Romney later down the line. As Publius321 so eloquently put it, Romney would DEBASE everything good and right. The best way to prevent him from ever getting a chance to do that, is to vote FOR Newt.

I don’t want newt as president so I’d still vote fr Santorum today to keep him running. But I understand Team Stop Romney too.
I do hate the meanness here against Santorum voters from the newt voters. It doesn’t lead me to support newt.

Oh, correction: I hadn’t read this thread when I posted. Now I have. The newt supporters on this thread seem kind to Santorum supporters ( possibly because on this thread they voted for newt). But on other threads, the anti Santorum voices are off-putting, in a bad way.
You are so stupid, or so interested only in your petty stalking, that you actually failed to notice that I was saying that this freeper voting for Gingrich was a good thing.
I was mocking those who claimed that Santorum had to drop out or his supporters couldn’t vote for Gingrich.
It is hilarious that in a thread dedicated to a Santorum supporter who was able to vote for Newt, that you claim that Santorum has to drop out for his voters to support Newt.

Newt just outlined his "First 17 Days" before inauguration and I agreed with every action which are more proactive than I thought possible, so your vote helped more than hurt.
