Well, all seriousness aside, can’t imagine what would posess anyone to tour the Middle East with all these beasts roaming about.

cant imagine what would posess anyone to tour the Middle East with all these beasts roaming about. Let's be clear. This happened in Islamic Egypt.
Israel is in the Middle East too, and it is quite safe there so long as you don't show up wearing a bomb belt.

Well, all seriousness aside, cant imagine what would posess anyone to tour the Middle East with all these beasts roaming about. The coral reefs are, or used to be, the main Sinai attractions.

Last Sunday’s NYT magazine had a full page ad for Egyptian tourism that featured a pyramid shaped crossword puzzle with many distinctly un-Islamic clues and answers. Obviously they’re worried about sagging tourism, but I don’t think the ad will help.

People are stupid, ignorant and smug. They depend on the media and don't think rationally about anything they are not experts in. (This includes Republicans, who should know that the media is the enemy.) Europeans are taught to listen to their betters from day 1. The media tells that Muslims are good and that the Arab Spring was a secular revolt. If anyone says otherwise, they are called racist. And people have terrible to censor their own thoughts because they don't want to say the wrong thing.

You do realise the murder rate here is higher than than all middle eastern countries. The highest are south american, eastern european and southern and central african countries. I have visited Egypt, to see the pyramids, and they had nice resorts along the red sea aswell.
