Cool! I said that the other day and was blasted because West hadn’t said he wanted it.

Allen West would be a terrific choice for VP.

An excellent ‘dream team’ although one that would unlikely be deprived of its WTF moments.

He must have a strong person as VP such as West or Scott Walker. No more of this who cares about the VP. The VP is a heartbeat away from the POTUS and we don’t need any person that will flip to the left or doing it as a favor. This is an important race. If Newt expects the people to vote for him; then he will have to do the right thing by and for the people.

Let's face political hard facts....not just deal with emotions.

Newt won't pick a Veep from another southern state that adjoins his own. He won't pick Rubio either. He's just throwing Floridian West's name out right now because his next hurdle is the Florida primary and it makes political good sense to do so.

We Florida freepers love Rep. West, but he's still too lightweight to put on a ticket, let alone the consideration of the geographical obstacle.

I have a feeling Newt would pick someone we haven't thought of too much, someone conservative with good business or legislative skills, someone from a more industrial state....someone who will electrify us.

Newt is a savvy politician....he would pick someone that balances the ticket geographically, someone who would add the weight of experience to it, someone from a state with a substantial electoral vote....and someone who would sit well with conservatives.

I have a strong hunch we would lick our chops at Newt's selection for a running mate.

Just 'spose that we all went balls-out for Ron Paul until the GOP party-convention. What influence do you believe "we" would have on delibeations?

Consider, after Newt gets the nod - despite efforts of all "true conservatives" and those considering themeselves to be TEA paryt members (if not afficianados) going balls-out for Ron Paul, what's going to come out of the GOP DreamTeam's mouths?

Imagine if what I'm saying actually carries weight of substance - and not merely water - what discourse will be ongoing just prior to the convention? So Newt "mentions" the "idea" of Col. West being his running-mate just prior to the third primary. Who do you think he's cow-toeing to?

If we try to play the media game of "electability", we're going to lose. Its the primaries for crying out loud! What difference does it make if but for "We The People" to let our voice heard; the "people" don't actually vote for President do they? We're letting "them" know that if any candidate wants to be in "our" party; or do the candidates let us know we can be in "their" party? It is my exhortation that "we" espouse Ron Paul for every good reason that is known. If "we" want to be instrumental in the remaking of the American conservative polical scene that's what we need to do.

The GOP powers-that-be need to understand that the TEA party remains, and that there is a vast conservative constituency that is absolutely 100% behind Ron Paul's Constitutional principles / philosphy (even if they only agree with the 80% of it as it specifically relates to domestic issues).

What I bet will happen in a Ron Paul administration is the we the people will see Congress grow some 'nads.

I'm saying that if the specious crap is trimmed from Ron Paul's political ideology - akin to the allowances requested for any other "conservative" candidate - "WE" are going to like a lot of a plausible Ron Paul administration.

Ron Paul will never be elected. SO "we" need to scare the powers-that-be there might be a 'revolt' in his favor.

Fine, but I was thinking DeMint, Rubio, or Cain. But Allen west will be ok.

Bachmann is out of the question because she has beef with Gingrich and rightly so. In the heat of a campaign everyone tries to do what they can to win. Bachmann felt like Gingrich was in the way near the end of her campaign. Then she called him a frugal socialist.

We certainly need to be mindful of what is to come beyond 8 years....someone with the caliber of Allen West would certainly be a positive for the country.

i detest race picks and often clash here with freepers who jump on any black horse that jumps the corral

and i have been disappointed by most black so called conservatives except Clarence Thomas and T Sowell

but i like. Allen West a lot

politically though he brings nothing but himself really...and i love him..really cool alpha man

but Florida is likely in the bag...as is the military vote and you cant move enough blacks to matter

you gotta amp the white vote...easiest...and bring a big swing state

Ohio....Penn....Michigan...Missouri

and given Newts age....future promise....

Though the thought of West being VP under any POTUS makes my leg tingle .... I do find it interesting timing being Florida primary is 10 days away

I guess that’s the nature of politics

I hope Newt is serious and not just tossing red meat

I hope this was not moved to bloggers because of the comments I have seen on other threads of Palin as Gingriches VP.I am really sick of people speaking for Palin like they are her campaign managers. It is old and tiring but the very people also said Palin would NEVER settle for ANYTHING but POTUS and now it seems that Palin as VP is suddenly okay.

Allen West would be a great VP. If I were Gingrich I would have Allen West as Vice President but directly over the Secretary of Defense. West knows what the military needs and equally important knows what the Military does not need.
