The Mayor of Newark, New Jersey is making an offer he hopes city residents cannot refuse -- report your gun-owning neighbor, get $1,000.
In a video, Mayor Cory Booker holds ten $100 bills as he explains how the new program works. People just have to anonymously call a number to report someone with an illegal gun and they get the dough.
Here is the video:
at first quick read, i saw dobie as in pinscher...
i thought, dang dont waste innocent dogs...
glad i re-read it...heheheh...
Upon reading this, I wondered “Who could be THIS stupid? The idea will generate so many false reports and set-ups that it will be an instant joke...”
So I noodle around them thar interwebs, you know, the series of tubes that allows duck poop in Manitoba to show up on my front doorstep in a flash... and I look up this Cory Booker guy.
“Mayor Booker received his B. A. and M. A. from Stanford University, a B. A. in Modern History at Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar, and completed his law degree at Yale University. And he has often been known to say, he got his B.A. from Stanford but thanks to a great city, he received his best education from the people of Newark, New Jersey.”
Ooooookay. A BA from Oxford, Rhodes Scholar and law degree from Yale? This guy has won the Trifecta in Stupid.
I no longer wonder who could come up with an idea this stupid. These sorts of ideas come only from those people educated well beyond their native intelligence... and here, we have a wonderful case in point.
The only other thing I wonder is where one could get a great heaping bag of Lorcins and other “ring of fire” throwdowns to toss into a certain property in the area there before dropping a dime to the donut munchers? Toss in a few Mac-10’s, an Uzi or two, and maybe a few Glocks in the bag to make sure it grabbed enough headlines...
What is the mayor’s address? How many of his relatives and business associates live in Newark and what are their addresses?
Good citizen reminder; don’t forget to drop a dime with the ATF too.
Amendment II
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
Chief Clancy Wiggum to Homer Simpson: "We've had some anonymous complaints about loud music and strip-diddly-ippers."
I think the intent is probably to get guns out of the hands of gang-bangers and known felons, but it’s a bad idea. An honest citizen doesn’t need a reward to report illegal activity.
