Rep. Allen West (R-FL), a former Army lieutenant colonel, sent The Weekly Standard an email commenting on a recent video depicting what appears to be four U.S. Marines urinating on the corpses of Taliban terrorists. The email reads as follows [emphases added]:
I have sat back and assessed the incident with the video of our Marines urinating on Taliban corpses. I do not recall any self-righteous indignation when our Delta snipers Shugart and Gordon had their bodies dragged through Mogadishu. Neither do I recall media outrage and condemnation of our Blackwater security contractors being killed, their bodies burned, and hung from a bridge in Fallujah.
All these over-emotional pundits and armchair quarterbacks need to chill. Does anyone remember the two Soldiers from the 101st Airborne Division who were beheaded and gutted in Iraq?
The Marines were wrong. Give them a maximum punishment under field grade level Article 15 (non-judicial punishment), place a General Officer level letter of reprimand in their personnel file, and have them in full dress uniform stand before their Battalion, each personally apologize to God, Country, and Corps videotaped and conclude by singing the full US Marine Corps Hymn without a teleprompter.
As for everyone else, unless you have been shot at by the Taliban, shut your mouth, war is hell.

Thank God someone with a podium stood up and spoke the truth. Kudos Lt.Col. West!
As I said on a prior thread RE: the Taliban and the ‘armchair quarterbacks here...
Everything he (terrorists) represents is evil. Everything he fights, oppresses and kills for is evil. You accept evil or deny it.
If a demon from the pit of hell rose up and was urinated on by a US Marine, I would fail to see the difference. Nor would I be disappointed.
Finally, someone to put this incident in it’s correct context-a non-issue.
No, the Clintons were too busy sending tanks against Waco.
I’m in LOVE!!!!
What a man!

We need this man in the new Republican administration.
He is one of the few with guts enough to tell it like it is.
Our elected officials are limp wristed whips who are afraid of Obama and Muslims.
Link below is to TIME cover depicting Afghan woman whose nose and ears were cut off by the Taliban (graphic warning):

“...like the Taliban husband who cut off his teenage wifes nose because she was disobedient.”
She was disobedient? Because she was neglected because her husband was f**king a goat?
God DAMN islam.
Urinating on moslems that are dead is a waste of body fluids...Pissing on moslems that are still alive, OTOH, is an efficient use of those same fluids...
He decided too take the two SS prisoners to a POW camp that was approximately a two hour round trip. He took his machine gun with him and returned in about an hour with an empty truck. No one asked any questions or was outraged on behalf of the enemy. ......................................
I’ve been told by Vets who were in Italy that this kind of stuff was not uncommon. It got so bad that the German Command cut into our radios and the general (in fluent english) threatened to reciprocate if it continued. They weren’t SS, just plain Wehrmacht troops. Atrocities are part of warfare no mater which side. A lot of things occur that never make it to the front page. Over the years I heard all kinds of stories from every conflict we were involved. The silliness of Abu Grave and the flame throwing of prisoners in Korea and everything in between covers the spectrum pretty much. Sh*t happens.
Too bad the guys didn’t need to go Number Two.
Until they fear us they will keep fighting.
It took 2 nukes to make the Japanese fear us.
The idiots better start doing something to make them fear us or I believe we will have to do the same thing again eventually.
That was a foolish remark.
I heard similar things from WWII veterans, and as I look back on their reminiscences now, that was one of the observations that were delivered matter-of-factly, with - in my estimation - very little reticence, something which was not the case with some of the other information. Some of them were still repelled by someone in their squad shooting a run-of-the-mill German who surrendered, but I can't recall a single varying attitude about SS troops.
Anyway, the " we didn't take many SS prisoners" - delivered with a strange look - was one of the little "truisms" I picked up as a kid. That, and "the ones who saw the worst things talk about them the least."
Last night, I had a phone conversation with a multiple-ME deployment vet about this latest manufactured outrage. We came to no conclusions other than that common sense in the form of "shoot, shovel and shut up" is nonexistent for too high a number of people, younger troops have an inordinate fondness for the lowest forms of asinine grandstanding, and that overly restrictive/PC ROEs which enable the enemy to succeed in atrocious ways cause a level of frustration which will find outlets. Obviously, no one high enough up the food chain has the pull or the balls to fix the ROE problem, but they all have the "courage" to "fix" the side effects some stateside fat cat politicians wave in front of the media.
Mr. niteowl77
Yes, very nice response.
Man do I agree with this! He is dead nuts on base. These guys did nothing different than what has been going on since “war” was invented other than being stupid enough to film it and get caught. Reprimand, cut rank, and have them stand in shame in front of their battalion.
What is most unfortunate about this is, the enemy will start posting their videos en masse, showing them torture our captured or dead troops. All the while exclaiming, “If it’s okay for the Americans, it should be okay for us.”.
War is hell.
There is a long tradition of pissing on your enemy in the milktary. As a young pilot in the Air Force I remember urinal stickers of Hanoi Jane...
