"Rick Perry Will Not Depart From His Conservative Record or Path" - The Real Record, The Real Man

Musings of a Rick Perry supporter...

I don’t think the American people know Gov. Rick Perry. He burst onto the national stage and seemed like a Texan, okay, a politician with some nerve, some courage, some outspokenness, who was taking on the sacred cows and telling it like it is. But the debates reversed that image...the early ones. Then there are the lies...oh so many, many MANY lies about him. Because of them, people might be forgiven for their confusion, for not knowing what to believe.

I thought about posing questions all of which start with, “Who is said to have done this or that, but in fact they did so and so instead?” -- to point out the usual points being used to confuse. For example:

Who is said to have been a Gore Democrat, but who in fact had, prior to Gore running in 1988, already voted twice for Ronald Reagan and was in fact one of the millions of Reagan Democrats?

Who did porn publisher Larry Flynt say he would pay the big bucks for information on concerning any woman that could step forward and prove she had had a sexual relationship with him, in order to smear a man who in fact married his childhood sweetheart after courting and waiting 16 years for her to say yes?

Who is said to be weak on the issue of border security and illegal immigration, but in fact has been endorsed by Sheriff Joe Arpaio and has been passed over for endorsement by Senator John “Amnesty” McCain in favor of Mitt Romney?

Who is known for saying that he found Christ at age 27, when his Christian upbringing collided with life and cemented in his being; that he was a childhood churchgoer at his mother’s insistence when she told him, "You’re going to attend one of the two church’s here, it doesn’t matter which one, but pick one...you’re going?"

But you know, some people might not understand how he was raised to be of good moral character and that he didn’t just suddenly jump up and become someone completely different. I know what he’s talking about on the conversion, but the truth is he was raised on Bible stories and morality stories about making the right choices in life for the right reasons.

People deride not only him for having been a Democrat, they are deriding his parents, grandparents and all Texans, really. And he said of his dad, recently, that his dad was a WWII tailgunner who flew in 35 missions over Hitler’s Germany in 1944. This cotton farmer was of the Greatest Generation and did us all proud. Rick said, “..it was by the grace of God that despite my dad’s dangerous missions, he returned home without so much as a scratch.”

As we know, so many did NOT come home. And his dad risked everything to defend America, and would’ve died trying if that was to be his fate.

But they were Democrats, don’t you know?! “Scummy people.”

Sorry to get worked up, but this kind of thing has kept people from truly knowing and understanding Rick Perry, and it’s straight from the Devil’s playbook. The Bible says of the Devil, he is a liar and the father of lies.

Remember the story of when his mom was sitting in the church pew and the preacher was delivering a “social gospel” sermon about all politicians being liars...social commentary instead of a Bible based message to the attendees...and she stood up and said, “My son is the Governor of Texas, and he is not a liar”? And, to the delight of the congregation, she said it again when the preacher continued, not heeding her fair warning and defense of her son.

Who is derided for being “one of the cheerleaders” at Texas A&M, but in fact held the singular title of “Yell Leader,” which was a special leadership position on campus?

Who is said to be dumb, but in fact made the rank of Eagle Scout (as has his son), graduated from Texas A&M, joined the Air Force, piloted a C-130 around the world and left with the rank of Captain?

Who is said to have spent his life as a politician in the public sector, but in fact spent 5 years in the Air Force and 8 years cotton farming on rented land, for a total of 13 career years, along with his formative boyhood years growing up on a West Texas farm?

The “la raza ricky” thing is to give the impression he is very chummy, very tight with la raza, that they’re like hand in glove, when at their invite, he gave them HIS point of view rather than pandering to their agenda.

Bilderberger...guess that’s the new world order or the one world government people, right? And all he did was go once, at their invite, never went back, was never asked back, and I heard him joke...can’t recall the venue... “They must not have liked me.”

There is so much spinning, half-truths and outright lies being put out about Rick Perry, that the mind boggles. His opponents can’t diminish his record so they try to bury and distort it, along with his good character.

In some ways, Rick Perry is damaged because people don’t have a good handle on WHO he really is. They didn’t know him, nationally, except as the Texas governor who excels at bringing in jobs.

Perry has been so gung ho to have people see and understand what has happened in Texas, and what those same policies can do for America, that perhaps he missed a key factor, that before people can put their trust in him for this highest of offices, they need to know WHO he is.

I truly believe if the American people could know and understand Rick Perry, but for the voting, this election would be over. With this information, Americans would understand where he comes from, what shaped him and be very confident that as President of the United States, he will not depart from his life-long conservative record or path in service to his country.

If you believe my long standing stance on the Trans Texas Corridor kid ....

Again, I will refrain from dragging my ample link list of information telling of the political hacks, the environmental activists, joined together with a population control site that went out on a campaign to alarm citizens about a proposed road (that had nary a blueprint) as being the width of 6 football fields running from the Mexican border north through the state. It is amazing what that propaganda did to needed infrastructure here in Texas. There are other FReepers who can explain what this needless delay will do to Texas' surging economy and the movement of people and product.

This is about the election for POTUS, not God selecting an apostle, high priest or other servant for religious duty (e.g. prophet). And one dimension that God requires before such a selection is repentance before beginning the process of qualification to such an office; not so for a political office (consider King Saul).

Romans 13:1 (NIV)

Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.

(emphasis mine)

God absolutely does call Christians to serve in political office. Of the three not-Mitt candidates remaining, every single one of them professes a personal relationship with Christ (indicating their repentance) and every single one has flaws. God can and does use flawed men for His purpose.

Even the revolting Obama is in power to serve God's purpose. I fail to see His purpose, but I know without a doubt that He has one.

Yes, this about the election of the POTUS. And we should remember that all governing authority is established by God himself.

I don't like a convoluted idea of “strategic fencing”. Either one is for putting up a fence or they're against it. I don't find this an issue where there is middle ground, try as he might.

A fence along the Texas portion of the border is not feasible. We have the Rio Grand as our border. The official border runs straight down the middle of the river.

We can’t build a fence on the Mexican side of the Rio because it’s not our property and we can’t maintain it. Putting a fence on our side of the Rio cedes land and water to Mexico. The Rio is an important water source for agriculture down there.

That is why Perry does not support/promote a fence along every inch of the border. Candidates who do are fools and do not understand the logistics of the Texas border. A fence along other than the Texas border can be done - and Perry does support that.

Is it possible to redirect a portion of the Rio for water purposes in the areas that a fence would be complicated? I’m certainly no expert on the Rio, but other rivers have been diverted in our Country for years, with great success. Just an idea......

Perry: ‘Stand up’ and ‘stop apologizing’......."We need to stop apologizing for celebrating life,” the Republican Texas governor bellowed at the Republican Leadership Conference in a finger-pointing, finger-wagging and, at times, bombastic, speech.

“Stop apologizing” for wanting to stem the tide of the “entitlement mindset,” he boasted.

“Our opponents on the left are never going to like us, so let’s stop trying to curry favor with them,” he said, before imploring the crowd to “stand up. Let’s speak with pride about our values. Let’s stop this American downward spiral.” ................

....."In his remarks, similar to those he's offered at other churches in Iowa, Perry recalled how his faith was renewed at age 27, when he realized he had, as he put it, "a hole" in his heart.

"It's a God-shaped hole in your heart and it can only be filled by Jesus Christ," Perry told the dozens in attendance.

Using one of his favorite Bible verses to quote on the stump (Isaiah 6:8: Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?" And I said, "Here am I. Send me!"), Perry then moved into political mode.

"You are Biblically charged to take your values into the public arena," he said, noting that someone's values will "decide the issues of the day."

"The question is, whose values?" Perry said, warning against being intimidated by what he referred to as "the politically correct police."

After the service, Bachman said of Perry, “I couldn’t have asked for anything better. He was very comfortable.”...... Source

God absolutely does call Christians to serve in political office
Don't know how you get that from Romans 13 (the interpretation of the "powers that be" refers to the governments of this age rather than to post-Second Coming or those of the Kingdom of God; verse 6 means a public servant so established by God rather than someone who actively sought that office as a Christian): but if what you therein claim is actually true, then by extension that means that you have to govern strictly according to God's law.

Before Israel had kings, they were ruled by a krytocracy, with Samuel technically being the last judge; he had appointed his sons to be judges after him, but they were corrupt like Eli's sons, and that gave fuel to the fire insofar as Israel's demands for a king to replace the judges. In response, a prophecy of ever-expanding oppressive government was given from God (1 Samuel 8:11-18)

Even . . . Obama is in power to serve God's purpose. I fail to see His purpose
You're correct on that score, and I think I can see what the purpose may be. Read Isaiah 3:1-5, and Daniel 4:17, 25, 32 (especially the last few words).

As your photo bears a resemblance to the mighty Colorado River, which was diverted for the construction of both the Hoover dam and the recent bypass bridge, it appears it could be done. I’ll qualify that by stating I’m no expert on this. If feasible, it’s just a matter of how important one considers a fence to be in combating illegal immigration.

Since the international border runs down the middle of the river, diverting the river changes the international border. That would take some serious cooperation between us and Mexico. Mexico would raise objections to any negative consequences to their border towns. Technically, yes we could divert all or portions of the river, but then the enviro-whackos get involved and grind progress to a halt. It’d be years before any meaningful progress was made.

Sort of impractical but possible.

You're the one who made the comment about the TX legislature supporting their version of the DREAM Act nearly unanimously, and presented it as a sort of fait accompli that is above criticism merely in light of that, irrespective of whether it was conservative or liberal to pass such a law or whether it was against the US Constitution (therefore making it not just "a Texas matter"). Would you care to expound on that?
