Sturm, Ruger & Company, Inc. (NYSE: RGR) is proud to announce the new Ruger® LCR-22, an eight-shot revolver that offers all the features of the award-winning LCR®, chambered in the popular and economical .22 Long Rifle cartridge.

"The LCR has proven its worth since its introduction in 2009, and has become an extremely popular compact revolver for concealed carry," said Chris Killoy, Ruger Vice President of Sales and Marketing. "Our customers asked for a rimfire LCR for low cost practice at the range, and the LCR-22 fills that need. Furthermore, this gun disputes the notion that small-frame, rimfire revolvers come with heavy trigger pulls; the LCR-22's non-stacking trigger pull is highly manageable. The newest LCR maintains all the features of the critically acclaimed original LCR. The 1-7/8" barrel and eight-shot cylinder are constructed of stainless steel, and the cylinder is highly fluted to reduce weight. The frame is machined from an aerospace-grade aluminum forging, and the fire control housing is molded from rugged and durable glass-filled nylon. The fire control system utilizes Ruger's patented friction reducing cam that provides a uniquely smooth, non-stacking trigger pull.

Pictures and specs at the site. I want to see a variations with four and six inch barrels. What a great backpacking firearm that would be!

I have never understood the need or use for a .22lr snubbie. Especially a double action with a 7lb trigger pull and a 1 7/8” barrel. Some will say it’s good and cheap for practice, but $400+ will buy a lot of cheap 38spcl ammo for more useful variants. It is a poor choice for self defense, targets or plinking. Maybe (I say maybe) it would be OK for snakeshot.

Appears to be a well-engineered firearm. I agree, it would be a great addition to my pack, the weight is incredible and a brick of ammo would weigh very little. I may need to go fire one when they arrive at my favorite 2nd Ammendment center.

I do like the idea of a concealable being so light and small that you can almost forget you are carrying it, but the trade off is often a little gun that will spank your hand something terrible at the range. That is why I like my Berretta Tomcat 3032 that followed home a few years ago. It has a flatter profile and a bit lighter than this 22LR, and it’s a no pain shooting experience. But this revolver would be a nice simple to operate gun for my wife’s purse.

I have been looking at differnet 410 guage shotguns and I think you can use the same ammo in 410 revolvers

I think that would be great smaller shotgun for indoor home defense (withouth blowing major holes in strctural walls)

Its intent is to provide a low cost way of practicing. It fits the bill nicely.

You are right. We have a High Standards stub nose, 9 shot .22mag with a 1 inch barrel, double action. The pull through is pretty hard but up close and personal it gets the job done. Much better weapon. But you can hardly find one anymore.

I would not waste my money when I can get SW stubbie in .38 special for around $400 or a Bersa .380 for $299.

Funny. That looks just like my bedside home defense weapon.
One small negative about the Judge though. That cylinder that is long enough to accommodate a 410 also gives a .45 round a 1/2 inch or so to wobble before it enters the rifled barrel. Not much of a problem at the normal gunfight distances, but out further it could be.
Even so it is my weapon of choice for home defense.

22 mag is a far different round than the 22lr and while not the best SD round, it if far better. I have a couple 22wmr handguns, one four inch and one 5 3/4 inch. I also had a 22lr snubbie years ago...... it was near useless for me.

You are mostly right, but I think the 410 handguns may be better than pepper spray at those close distances. Certainly very painfull. As for snakes, I can buy snakeshot for any of my handguns.

It looks like they just took a Ruger .38 and added in a barrel insert and new chamber. I don’t see a big market for a .22 that tops $500 when there are so many similar options out there sub $200.
