Ron Paul is surging in Iowa according to the latest polls, but if the libertarian Texas Republican does become the flavor of the week, his foreign policy views will likely leave Republican voters with a sour taste.
The latest IBD/TIPP survey asked respondents which GOP presidential candidate they preferred on four issues: the economy, budget/taxes, health care and foreign policy. Paul is third behind Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich, being the preferred choice by Republicans on the first three issues by margins of 9%, 10%, and 6%, respectively.
As todays IBD story touched on, Paul is weakest on foreign policy, where he is the choice of just 4%, tying him with Jon Huntsman.

oh wow! ronpaul....
now we can blame ourselves for 9/11 and do nothing about it if another attack happens....he is my hero.
You are pretty much misrepresenting his positions.
and don’t forget, happily let Iran get nukes and wipe Israel off the map!
*Ron Paul is a freaking nut, what would get us all killed*
also not what he said.
Paul explicitly said we brought 9-11 upon ourselves
and also said he didn't mind if Iran got nukes
these are FACTS.
Are Repubs that crazy or desperate? What? Are his supporters on a Repub 'suicide mission'?
How stupid can Repubs be?
A rhetorical question; needing no answer; at this time. We know the RNC has it's own brand of stupidity as well.(i.e. telling Repubs to NOT criticize Obama; lest they offend those who 'feel sorry for him'. This even worse, perhaps; that Ron Paul "cases". . .and of course, the kind of judgment that allowed an Obama victory last election.
His point was we co-existed with Russia when they had 5000+ nukes, so why can’t we co-exist with a nuclear Iran.
Iran wouldn’t be a problem if not for the military adventurism of the last 10 years.
We will have plenty to worry about domestically if the republicans and democrats run us into a brick wall without tapping the brakes.
no those ARE his positions.
What he said was what was reported in the 911 Commission Report
Personally - I am definately voting for RP in the primary, despite his foreign policy views. Bachmann is a close second.
Newt / Romney / Perry / Huntsman = more of the same bs.
The Republicans will get you little incursions.
The Democrats will get you wars caused by allowing evil to breed.
Ron Paul will get you an all out world war, not immediately but with 10 years.
>>Iran wouldnt be a problem if not for the military adventurism of the last 10 years.
Oh you so much need the ZOT. LoL!
Because the Russians didn’t think they had 50 virgins waiting for them in heaven when the infidels retaliate after they have nuked Israel.
Ron Paul doesn’t need anyone to “misrepresent” his positions.
No amount of spin from Paul’s bizarre little supporters is going to change the fact that he is more aligned with the left than he is with the right, that he’s a blatant hypocrite and that he openly assoicates with or supports groups such as Code Pink, Infowars and OWS.
I’m sorry pal, but what’s so conservative about being the world police? I’ll hang up and listen.
True point, and I don’t think Paul is right about everything, but with the debt that we have, we can’t have a trillion dollar conflict over every threat.
Iowa caucuses require one to be a registered Republican. After a straw vote for presidential preference, one must sub-caucus and select like-minded folks to continue to the county and state levels, where Iowa’s 30-40 of 2400 national delegates are selected. Having to pay attention and follow through eliminates most Paul supporters.
Anything can happen before IA.
The two conservatives combined are about 19% so current rino frontrunners can be toppled.
Vote for Newt is vote for amnesty. Over my dead body.
There’s a difference between being world police and openly being friendly to evil nations like Iran. Ron Paul has said USA should be friends with Iran. His views are naive and not conservative in the least.
When he whines about foreign aid and involvement, his anti-Semitic supporters know he’s talking about Israel. Ask a Ron Paul supporter the biggest problem and most will whine about foreign aid to Israel.
