DOJ cover-up of Fast and Furious coming apart at the seams

The Department of Justice cover up of Operation Fast and Furious, begun literally hours after the December, 2010 shooting death of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry, is coming apart at the seams.

In yet another Friday evening document dump, the Obama Administration provided Congress and an increasingly interested American public “…documents detailing how the [DOJ] gave inaccurate information to a US senator in the controversy surrounding Operation Fast and Furious.”

In short, after spending months in all out deny and obfuscate mode, stonewalling congressional investigators and depending upon nearly universal media silence to make the issue go away, the AG Eric Holder-led Department of Justice has begun to offer up damning, self-incriminating information to its principle antagonists—Senator Charles Grassley and Representative Darrell Issa.

And that means just one thing—Holder and the DOJ no longer have a choice!

On February 3rd, ATF Agent Gary Styers addressed a memo to top officials of the Bureau. In it he corroborated the testimony fellow Agent John Dodson had provided Senator Grassley one week earlier, asserting Dodson was quite correct in claims that the Bureau “divided and isolated agents” while facilitating the deliberate “walking” of guns across the Mexican border.

One day later, Assistant Attorney General Ron Weich addressed his own letter to Congress, stating unequivocally that “the allegation …that ATF ‘sanctioned’ or otherwise knowingly allowed the sale of assault weapons…is ‘false.”

Former US Attorney for Phoenix Dennis Burke and former Phoenix branch ATF Agent in Charge Bill Newell spent months adhering to the phony claims made by Weich.

But overwhelming evidence of criminal ATF behavior coupled with the growing realization that the Regime would have no compunction about serving them up as scapegoats to relentless committee investigators finally forced the pair to fess up.

And now the DOJ is backtracking...

No, I’m pissed because they are ALL a bunch of liars.

I’m not going to vote for any of ‘em. I’m honest, it ain’t hard, I’m not voting for anyone to be my leader who is lesser than me in that regard.

I’ll be my own leader.

Holder has been in Justice for 20 years. He has no motivation to rat out anyone. If he resigns there will be a list of a hundred NGO's or ACORN-like money laundering non-profits he can quietly run from behind a curtain.

Some sort of investment banking fund for minorities backed by government guarantees sounds about right.

But that’s why he’ll toss
Holder overboard! It will immunize him from any additional investigations completely.

Ditto.

I’m not going to vote for any of ‘em.

As an American, you have a right to be stupid.

Darning and even re-weaving won’t put it back together again.

You are pissed because there is no magic wand that gets rid of the demonRATs overnight.

Overnight, eh?

Maybe we should give Congress another 15 years to do something about the DOJ & ATF goon squads...

House of Representatives Report 104-749 8/2/96 Committee of Government Reform & Oversight
..."The staff also had an opportunity to inspect the physical evidence taken from the ruins of the residence after the fire, much of which had been used in the criminal trial of surviving Davidians. By prior agreement with the Justice Department, a potential witness at the hearings, Failure Analysis Associates, Inc., was to inspect some of the physical evidence in order to respond to tampering allegations. It was believed that the views of scientists from Failure Analysis, who had often performed scientific evaluations for the Federal Government, including the Justice Department and NASA after the Challenger explosion, would be beneficial given public suspicions about the firearms recovered from the site of the Davidian residence. The inspection would not have damaged the weapons and was to have been conducted in the presence of all parties. It was hoped that the inspection would determine whether the Davidians had attempted to alter legal, semi-automatic weapons by converting them into illegal, automatic weapons as the ATF had alleged, and whether any of this evidence had been altered after it was gathered from the destroyed Davidian residence. When the scientists arrived in Austin, the Department declined to make the firearms available to them. The Department agreed instead to conduct the tests itself and present its findings to the subcommittees. A short time later, the Department urged, for cost considerations, that the tests not be performed. As a result, no tests were performed on the firearms."...

That was the saddest event ever. Pres. clit, the commander in chief at the time, washes his hand of the matter leaving it all up to Reno and turns into a free-for-all with its associated coverup.

American people sit hopelessly by, same when their gold was confiscated, various screwball supreme court decisions, manipulations in the markets, congress sitting around pretending nothing ever happens that rises to the threshold of a felony.

Expecting another low fly over of New York City by an Air Force jet for a photo op without notice, any day now.
