Romney Campaign Still Sees Perry as Threat
Race 4 2012 ^ | December 2, 2011 | Matt Coulter

Posted on 12/03/2011 3:12:38 AM PST by Cincinatus' Wife

This is really interesting:

An adviser to Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign says in a new book that the campaign was not happy to see former Godfather’s Pizza CEO Herman Cain’s campaign rocked by allegations of inappropriate behavior dating back to the 1990s.

“We didn’t want [opposition research] on him coming out. We wanted him to stay where he is. He keeps Perry down,” the anonymous aide said, referencing Texas Gov. Rick Perry.

The comments were reported in the new e-book, “The Right Fights Back,” which chronicles the 2012 Republican presidential race so far…

Even when Cain polled high, Romney never made an effort to attack him, likely because he never saw the former businessman as a real threat. On the other hand, Romney clearly sees Perry as a threat to his campaign, as evidenced by his constant attacks on the Texas governor.

Rick Perry does have all the money, organization, and endorsements that Newt Gingrich lacks. And he has been spending a lot of that money in Iowa running positive ads (in preparation for a huge negative ad campaign reportedly to be focused on Romney and Gingrich). Romney still sees something in Perry that makes him wary of the Texan.

I reported abuse on both Liz and marmalade for their tasteless remarks about Perry and his wife.

Probably won’t do any good but we’ll see.

“Your city is gone.”

You mean like Boston...er, I mean like Austin, Texas, a city run by liberal Bostonians?

If you and your friend Liz would stop posting nasty and childish sexual innuendos, I wouldn’t have had to report you.

I don’t think decent people on Free Republic should have to read that kind of stuff.

There’s an abuse button for a reason and you two are two of the reasons.

I did as well. I wish people would think before they post: I’d hate to see some of the posts on this thread show up in another one of O’Reilly’s screen shots, “proving” that Free Republic is full of loons and louts. FR is really much better than this, and I hate to see such low class drivel dragging the place down.

Amazing. You know, the civil war is over. Give it a rest, and quit trying to start a new one.

I know. How about you and your friend putting your money where your mouth—or keyboard—is? A lot of freepathon money comes from “cattle country”—which you so proudly slander. If you run off all of “cattle country,” maybe you can start paying what Free Republic loses from your vile comments about this part of the country. In fact, last time I looked, Texas in particular was raising more funds than the other states. Is it smart to insult them?

I don’t believe anything Perry says. Talk is cheap. What I do know is that he was a demrat, he supported Gore, he supprted global warming and he signed a “hate speech” bill in to Texas law. The latter is a device used my Marxists to suppress its opposition.

Perry can talk ‘til he’s blue in the face. It doesn’t change that factual history. Your problem is that no Tea Party Conservative in their right mind believes that Perry is anything more than a RINO crossdressing as a conservative. Frankly, the image is disgusting.

More to the point, a vote for the RINO Perry is a vote for the Marxist demrats.

I voted for Santorum in 2006. First of all the conservatives were all mad because he supported Arlen Spector. So he was punished which actually all Americans were punished because we lost the Senate. Nice punishment....Second of all another reason he lost was that he was TOO conservative for Pennsylvania. I don’t really think that should be used against him especially in the horrible 2006 Republican slaughter.

Great post dools---deserves a repeat.

Perry can talk ‘til he’s blue in the face. It doesn’t change the facts......no Tea Party Conservative in their right mind believes Perry is anything more than a RINO, cross-dressing as a conservative.

The history Perry, himself, created tells the tale: a former Dem, supported Gore, supported global warming, backed gay/abortion worshipper Giuliani, signed a “hate speech” bill into Texas law (device used my Marxists to suppress opposition),sucked up to illegals, Mexico, Islam---whoever he needed to get votes.

Proof positive is that, even posing as the only true conservative, Perry can't get above single digits....and can't even dislodge flipper Romney.

Another factor in Santorum’s 2006 defeat was his failure to pay school taxes in Pennsylvania. Remember that, naps? That hurt him bad with the conservative base.
