Obama Admin informs Beechcraft of aircraft loss in favor of Brazilian firm with ties to Iran

The Obama Administration has notified Hawker Beechcraft Corp. that its Beechcraft AT-6 has been excluded from competition to build a light attack aircraft, a contract worth nearly $1 billion, the company said.

The company had hoped to its AT-6, an armed version of its T-6 trainer, would be chosen for the Light Air Support Counter Insurgency aircraft for the Afghanistan National Army Corps. The chosen aircraft also would be used as a light attack armed reconnaissance aircraft for the U.S. Air Force.

The piston planes are designed for counterinsurgency, close air support, armed overwatch and homeland security, The Wichita Eagle reported (http://bit.ly/ud7FDM).

Hawker Beechcraft officials said in a news release that they were "confounded and troubled" by the Air Force's decision. The company said it is asking the Air Force for an explanation and will explore all options.

The decision appears to favor the Super Tucano built by Brazil's Embraer for the initial contract to supply 35 with the potential for 55 aircraft worth up to $950?million, which does not include foreign sales, the Eagle reported.

Brazil's Embraer aircraft company build's milit ary aircraft for Iran.

The Beechcraft T-6 production line employs a total of 1400 people in 20 states.

Every one of them adds up...this one included.

China is using our own money to build and modernize their forces in a phenominal way. We still have time to reverse it, but it would take a huge economic hardship on us to do so...but would be harder on them.

If we wait much longer, we will not be able to do so peacefully.

Here’s a site where I have been tracking their Navy buildup for years:

Right you are. Soros has a major shareholding in Harbin-Embraer, the Chinese subsidiary of Embraer.

Winning!

So it's actully wrong you are. Soros is invested in a factory to make airliners in China, NOT the ones that make military aircraft in Brazil or Florida.

Meanwhile Goldman Sachs is using some of the dollars that it made from the financial crisis to grease congresscritters to favour its factory (Hawker-Beeccraft). Since G-S (like Soros) seems to make a lot of its mone from short selling there's a good chance going with the AT-6 will lead to someone involved being burned.

Are the shareholders and bondholdes in Embraer a matter of record? It is a large company.

I said that Soros was invested in Embraer-Harbin. That is all. And so he is. It would not surprise me, however, to learn that his interests in Embraer extend beyond China. I suggest that when a Republican wins the Presidency next year that he immediately arrests the man and exports him to France where he is wanted to stand trial.

A couple things - first off, the Super Tucano will be built under licence in Florida. Second - Beechcraft isn’t exactly a glowing symbol of buy American.

Yeah, but no one here is going to let the facts get in the way of a good rant. :)

So Ratheon, with manufacturing locations in Kansas, got the JPATS contract in 1995, while Bob Dole, Kansas (R) was in office.

So my question is, seeing the victory of Embraer, which will manufacture in Florida, an extraordinarily important state in Presidential elections, does “R” stand for Ratheon?

What you don’t see there is that this will be an assembly plant. The largest portion of it will be made in Brazil and shipped in for final assembly. That is a PR snow job if there ever was one.

Ask yourself how much sense it makes for Embraer to make duplicate tooling and ship it in to Jacksonville for people to make an airplane they’ve never delt with before from scratch. These sheet metal airplanes take an exceptional amount of tribal knowledge to master. This tribal knowledge is not easily transfered.

Ask the folks in Mexico trying to build KingAir and Bonanza parts how much fun they’re having trying to duplicate how they did it in Wichita.

In short....if they have to transplant the Tucano factory it ain’t ‘off-the-shelf’ no more.

It’s likely true that some 70 US suppliers could be involved. Ask yourself how many of those suppliers already supplied parts for the Tucano being built in Brazil.

Compare the numbers of US suppliers of Tucano parts to the number of US suppliers of AT-6 parts.
