A group of Harvard undergraduates have staged a walkout of economics professor Greg Mankiw's class, in solidarity with the Occupy movement.
According to their statement, they know better than Mankiw what ought to be taught in an introductory economics course:
"We are walking out today to join a Boston-wide march protesting the corporatization of higher education as part of the global Occupy movement. Since the biased nature of Economics 10 contributes to and symbolizes the increasing economic inequality in America, we are walking out of your class today both to protest your inadequate discussion of basic economic theory and to lend our support to a movement that is changing American discourse on economic injustice."
I hope Professor Mankiw flunks them.
We'll see then how devoted they are to civil disobedience. I bet they'll come back crying, begging the professor not to do anything that hurts their precious GPA.
Reminds me of that passage from liberal Episcopal priest Chloe Breyer's memoir of her seminary education in which she gets arrested with other Episcopal clerics at a pro-abortion rally, and complains about the lack of seat belts in the paddy wagon, and also frets that one priest arrested with her had tickets to the theater that night and no doubt hadn't counted on having to miss the show.
This Harvard stunt just childish and stupid.

Flunk ‘em all! There’s no crying and tantrums in college.
Flunk the TWITS!
fail them all. The idiots
Think of all those students who applied to Harvard and didn’t get in, or who were accepted and couldn’t raise the tuition. I hope the prof flunks these twits and deosn’t back down.
I’m surprised there’s still a college economics course that teaches proper economic theory.
Agreed. Just a bunch of trust-fund white libtards who will be back calling mommy and daddy because big bad teacher was rude to them...
and BTW, my uncle graduated from Harvard, and one thing he hated were these self-righteous, snob libs who think they know better than the common man.
There’s a Conservative Prof at Harvard ?!?
This reads like an advertisement for Mankiw....
RE: Theres a Conservative Prof at Harvard ?!?
FROM Wikipedia:
From 2003 to 2005, Greg Mankiw was chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers under President George W. Bush. In 2006, he became an economic adviser to Mitt Romney. He is a conservative and he writes a popular blog about economic issues. According to the IDEAS/RePEc rankings, he is the 25th most widely cited economist in the world today.
Email the professor with your thoughts: ngmankiw@harvard.edu

and the Dean of the University, Kathleen McCartney: hgsedean@gse.harvard.edu
Great day for a pop quiz.
The Ivy League is now a joke, a faded brand name still trying to live high on on the hog on it’s past reputation. Things like this don’t help them get any credibility back. Fail all of the whiners.
A smart professor would take this time to announce changes in exams or clarify points or something to show why you should always be in class.
BTTT! Thanks for the links...
