I think that I may have stumbled onto a very large problem. I am working with a guy that says that he was a Marine and I am 99% sure that he isn't. He has got a really great story going and he has fooled a lot of people. I need a place to go to so that I can prove that he isn't a marine.
I can already proove several of his other stories are fabrications but this is the key. I have read online that is a rather big problem, especially for the Corps and the Seals. Can anyone tell me where to go to find out if this guy ever served?
Thanks for your help.
I never knew what the proper response was! Anybody know?
Counsel, in that usage.
And I wouldn’t buy any there, either.
That they served is impressive. Why lie?
Help!!! I had an E-6 that used to give me an assignment and when he did he would give me a little slip of paper from a notebook and tell me to bring it back to him, signed, when the assignment was complete.
I know there is a military term for that piece of paper (and I use that method today for my staff) but for the life of me I cannot remember what that was called.
Any idea?
Thanks, I used counsel first and then changed it. Getting old I guess:)
“Knew the Navy would get here eventually.”
Now that was funny, Marine.
Cold, but funny.
Actually former Marine is the correct usage, as there are no Ex-Marines, except a particularly nasty POS from Pennsylvania who was a Senator with a (D) at the end of his name named John Murtha.
Truth is, there are only 11 GO's....the "12th" is a bit of creative license. I think this might be the Navy version of the "12th."
I know One genuine Navy Seal from the Viet Nam era. He stayed in the Navy and retired. He was an old friend, a better friend to my brother than to me as they were the same age, older than me. He swam in HS, in the LA area and won quite a few ribbons swimming the butterfly.
Not a Marine, wouldn’t want anyone to think I was trying to appear as one. Never served, just was raised as an Army brat and am a long-time avocational student of military history. And understand inter-service rivalries reasonably well.
You can count on that. Here? Maybe. I hope I’m safely dead by then.....
no, that was your first!
and it was the 11th general order that was fake!
12th?? Gosh, we all had a diffeent 11th!
no, wait, I got that wrong, too! LOL
Heck, 34 years ago last month for the yellow footprints fo rme!
To take charge of this post and all govt property in view, sir
to walk my post in a military manner, observing everyting that takes place within sight or eharing sir
to quit my post only when properly relieved
to receive, obey and pass on to the sentry who relieves me, all orders of the officer of the day, commanding officer of the day, field officer of the day, and all officers and non commissioned officers of the guard only
LOL!
Boy, I would be thrashed right now...
No problem. My fault, not yours.
Now that was the hard one to recite back then!
And yellow footprints? That brings back the memory of getting off that bus on a hot July night in Buford, SC...BEST worst day of my life.
Oh, and through my time in the Corps, I don't think I ever ran across that mythical Field Officer of the Day listed above...did we have a Field Officer of the Day in the fleet?
Or....walk my post from flank to flank don't take sh*t from any rank
And yes, I am paraphrasing 134 this late at night...I watched the debates earlier and did shots ever time Romney spoke as a gesture to holding my nose in the future voting booth. Forgive me?
I certainly would not post it for anyone to examine. I did apply for my list of decorations, and got a nice list, along with a few ribbons and one medal that I left active service too soon to get in person. That should shut down any nosey types. Worked recently for an @sshole swabbie nuc-sub type that was certainly the kind to question my service. Too bad for him, I just ignored his BS sub stories and made it clear I was not impressed. He never took the bait and asked if I had served..........
Do a FOIA and read Stolen Valor for other signs.
