With recent polls showing President Barack Obama's approval rating continuing to plummet and the vast majority of Republicans still undecided about the current GOP field of contenders, could next year's presidential campaign turn into a three- or even four-way race? While many liberals have become increasingly frustrated with Mr. Obama's string of broken promises, many conservatives are worried that the GOP will settle for someone too moderate leaving room on both ends of the ideological spectrum for another candidate (or two). There's also the possibility that a seemingly apolitical contender could be the choice of many voters who have all but given up on the current system.

You couild say that about any election cycle of any onon-incumbent party, for instance the Democrats in ‘08. This is a stupid article.

Anything other than a two-way race = more Obama.
That was the thought I had that inspired this piece. There's always talk of third party candidates but this time around it could be a more viable option because of Obama's horrendous failure and the oitential for lots of disappointed conservatives if Romney starts winning primaries.
Maybe, but the Tea Party movement and the success its had in getting conservative candidates elected may be the difference this time around. Combine that with independents who voted for Obama and are now suffering from serious buyer's remorse and a third candidate could be more than a spoiler this time around.
