Just Heard Herman Cain on WABC (Vanity)

Just heard Herman Cain being interviews on Imus in the morning on WABC. Seems he's cleared up all the controversy - showing how the media takes things out of context. Not necessarily a Cain supporter, but could become one very easy. He's saying the right things. NOTE: you can probably catch the interview on WABC if they archived it.

I trust Michele Bachmann as well. Santorum to a lesser extent but if we had to have an “establishment” candidate, I could vote for him.

Exactly. This was a phony ginned-up “controversy” born in the minds of the lib media, to smear both Cain AND Perry.

For my money, it does damage to neither. We have WAY bigger fish to fry.

But the longer this drags out, the more success the lib media will have with it.

I did my job. I posted the words Cain originally said. Which he now says he never said.

Obama and the Senate of Harry Reid has always been the target. I post that all of the time.

I don’t have to pretend that Cain is telling the truth when he isn’t, about his original words, in order to be on the right side.

Just because I came to a different conclusion than you does not mean I am uninformed. I liked Perry for a couple weeks, but he is a weak, flawed candidate.

LOL....the mere slogan, “Vote for Herb,” would probably bring a lot of Ron Paul Supporters into the Cain camp.

This is disturbing: “However, Cain has backed away from his comments in the interviews, and it does no-one any good, Perry’s camp or Cain’s, to keep harping on it.

We are just playing into the MSM’s hands to the extent we keep the subject alive.”

I’m not asking for an apology, just honest clarification and evidence of the ability to turn 180 degrees when wrong without making excuses or justification. These are the marks of good character and leadership.

Mr. Cain made deliberate comments, both at ABC and Fox News on Sunday, that the Perry family and Governor Perry had left the name on the rock, that they should have removed it or renamed it. On Hannity, he said he had “heard” about the story but had not had time to “research it.” He had “heard” that the Perry’s had painted over the word in 1981 (wrong date, but irrelevant) but then asked what about “1960 to 81.”

This goes to character. He should have read the article himself sometime and he should be able to say “I haven’t read the article.” and/or “I have now read the article and the Perry’s are cleared of wrong doing.”

This goes to leadership: someone on his team should have read the article, given him an executive summary and then have done at least as much research as Rush Limbaugh. He should say that he is now aware that the Perry’s never had control of the rock, that the WaPo used un-named sources and “the Perry’s are cleared of wrong doing.”

You posted what he said...and I agree. The libs got Cain to knee-jerk. That's why I say he owes Perry an apology.

He now sees what actrually happened and agrees with and applauds Perry. They are going to move on.

No problem with me on that post regarding what was actually said and what is going on now. Cain's positions on the issues are what I support and will continue to do so. We'll see if anything more comes of this...but I doubt it will. Neither candidate at this point wants to, or should, talk any more about it.

LOL ... had not thought of that. Was making reference to Sarah calling Mr. Cain, Herb, in an interview. Your slogan message made my day. The paulbots would never know ... if Sarah does not run, may have to print up a few ... LOL

Herman Cain finds it just a little bit too easy to claim ignorance — just didn’t have all the information so couldn’t comment??

This smells to high heaven.

The lowest of the political lows.

Cain certainly knows what an accusation or the “innocent” passing along of a rumor can do to someone’s reputation. But he did it anyway — to help himself.

Now he has found out the truth. I believe he owes Perry an apology and perhaps he has already called him privatley and issued one...I do not know. I do know that he has said this in response now:

Perhaps he needs to write an OpEd for the NYT or the WSJ so EVERYONE can run with it like they did Cain's upset over Perry's alleged "insensitivity" -- only Cain didn't give him the benefit of that HUGE doubt.

Right. Like your guy Perry showed “honest clarification and evidence of the ability to turn 180 degrees when wrong without making excuses or justification.”

No, he went and castigated the legislature when it overturned his Gardasil EO.

That matters to me. This is all garbage. The fact that Cain should not have taken a reporter’s story as fact, doesn’t make me trust him less.

I’d put Herman Cain’s “character” up against Perry’s any day.

Agreed. He should have simply told the reporter, "You know, that does not sound like Rick Perry. Let me get with him and his campaign and let them explain this from their side before I comment on this." But he didn't. He got suckered by the liberal MSM. He has recognized it now and indicated that he applauds what Perry did in painting over it, and accepts that explanation over the MSM.

They both want to move on and should. I hope he did call Perry and apologize. I hope he issues one. But he has conceded the truth and applauded Perry. I'm sure neither one of them wants anyone focusing on this any longer.

The debate on October 11th may be interesting though. The moderators may well bring it up to try and stoke some sparks. If they do, I hope Perry indicates that Cain called him and apologozed and now knows the truth and the issue is closed...or that Cain indicates that once he found out all of the facts he applauded Perry and has apologized for the knee-jerk.

Having said that...I like Cain's positions and, short of Sarah jumping in, or short of something a lot worse coming out about Cain...will support him in the race.

We'll see who wins the nomination. Any of them are a far cry better than Barack Huseein Obama.

Gardasil was not a case of a personal attack on character of a person - unless it was on the Governor. It was a very political fight in Texas.

The questions that Mr. Cain raised about Governor Perry were answered in the original article. I do wish that Mr. Cain had read the article before going on the second Sunday show, or by the time he was on Hannity’s show on Monday.
